Ba De Temple - a sacred and mysterious place

Hai Phong is a land with numerous famous and sacred historical sites including Ba De Temple - a popular spiritual tourist destination, attracting a lot of tourists nationwide every year.

Ba De Temple is not only well-known for its charming landscape but also a story about the tragic life of an unlucky girl worshiped in the temple, Mrs. Dao Thi Huong (Ba De) - the wife of Lord Trinh Giang. Ba De Temple has a simple and elegant structure which was built at the foothills of Doc Mountain, facing the vast sea, creating a unique construction. The main hall of the Temple is worship space of Ba De and her parents. On the left of the main hall is the altar to the King of the Sea. Next to the main hall is the place to worship the King of the Earth, the King of the Mountain, and sentient beings. On the right of the main hall is the altar of Tam Toa Thanh Mau - the three goddesses governing the land, the sky, the rivers, and the mountains. Opposite to the altar of Tam Toa Thanh Mau is the place to worship Buddha and Grand Prince Tran Quoc Tuan - the famous general of the Tran dynasty. In front of the temple yard is the image of a boat with a statue of Bodhisattva, surrounded by dragons, creating more solemnity of this place.

Every afternoon, when the sun has disappeared behind Doc Mountain, visitors can stand at the bell tower of the temple looking at the sea and waves, admiring the sunset, and feeling the strangely peaceful moment. From the temple yard to the right lies a beautiful and long rocky beach, on the right of the road to the rocky beach is a cliff with green trees.

Ba De Temple Festival is held annually on three days of the 24th, 25th, and 26th of the second lunar month, in which the 24th and 25th are the thanksgiving of the great lady; the 26th is the opening ceremony of spring and rice offerings at the Temple. Different from other festivals, people rarely see divination or traffic congestion when worshiping at Ba De Temple,. Therefore, this place is considered as one of the historical, cultural, pure, and solemn areas.
