Vietnam landmark to light up on Swiss National Day

Switzerland celebrates its National Day on August 1 and this year marks 50 years of its diplomatic ties with Vietnam.

To celebrate the two anniversaries and the deep bonds of friendship between the two countries, the Landmark 81 Building in Ho Chi Minh City will wear the colours of both countries on August 1, 2021 from 7.30-8.30 p.m.

Switzerland was among the first Western countries to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam. Bilateral relations have extended dynamically since then, from development cooperation to political and multilateral spheres including trade and investment, education and research, culture, tourism and numerous people-to-people exchanges.

The upcoming August 4-6 visit to Hanoi by Swiss Vice-President and Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis will highlight the trust and friendship between the two countries that constitutes a solid foundation for further expansion and strengthening of bilateral relations.

On the occasion of the Swiss National Day, everyone is invited to virtually join the Swiss community in Vietnam and beyond at www.missione1agosto.org.

Switzerland wishes to share sincere wishes for a quick recovery to everyone in Vietnam struggling with the current difficult Covid-19 situation.
