The training ship squadron of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force paid a courtesy visit to Hai Phong city

On the morning of February 29, the flotilla of training ships belonging to the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force docked at Tan Cang Hai Phong International Container Port to commence a diplomatic visit to the city from February 29 to March 2, 2024. Present at the ceremonial reception of the ships were dignitaries representing various governmental agencies and organizations.

According to the schedule, in the afternoon of February 29, the captain, officers, and sailors of the Japanese training ship squadron conducted a formal visit to the City People's Committee leaders and the Naval Region 1 Command. As part of their itinerary, the delegation engaged in cultural exchange activities, toured various ships, explored local tourist sites, and paid their respects at the Memorial dedicated to the city's heroic martyrs.

The arrival of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force training ship squadron in the city coincided with the recent elevation of the relationship between Vietnam and Japan to a global strategic partnership. This event, occurring on November 27, 2023, marked a significant milestone in enhancing the collaborative ties between the two nations overall, and their respective navies specifically. It serves to bolster maritime security and safety in the East Sea, while also fostering peace, stability, cooperation, and development in both the region and the global arena.
