On March 28th 2023, Hai Phong Department of Foreign Affairs held a meeting with the Australian Embassy delegation in Viet Nam to prepare for an official visit led by the Australian Minister of Trade and Tourism to Viet Nam expected in April 2023.
The Australian Embassy delegates informed about interests of Australian Government and enterprises in promoting investment and trade cooperation with Vietnamese partners, seeking cooperation opportunities in areas where of Australia has strengths and Viet Nam is interested in green development, sustainable development, education and training, digital economy, etc. within the framework of strategic partnership between Viet Nam and Australia.
Within the aforementioned framework, the Australian Minister of Trade and Tourism is expected to make an official visit to work with Vietnamese Ministries, agencies, and cities, including Hai Phong City, in order to understand port infrastructure, logistics service, and opportunities to enhance commercial exchanges and investment promotion between the both sides. Hai Phong Department of Foreign Affairs has shared information about the areas where city is interested in and wishes to boost cooperation with domestic and foreign partners in the coming time, including Australian partners to realize the city’s targets in economic, social, and cultural terms.
Australia is one of the leading countries in education and training, hence, strengthening cooperation with Australian partners in these fields is of particular interest to Hai Phong City. The Australian Embassy delegation in Viet Nam and Hai Phong Department of Foreign Affairs talked and exchanged opinions on the preparation for welcoming and working with the delegation led by the Minister of Trade and Tourism of Australia to Hai Phong City ongoing time.
In the context of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relation establishment and consideration of upgrading to a comprehensive strategic partnership; Australian Embassy in Viet Nam has collaborated with relevant departments and agencies of Viet Nam to organize trade and investment promotion events, exchange delegations, advertising on education, etc. in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces across Viet Nam in the year of 2023.

Thanks to its strategic location with modern transportation infrastructure system, converging all types of transports, Hai Phong city has potential and capacity to develop specialized logistics services, supply chains with warehouses and transport facilities. There are rooms for further cooperation between Australia and Hai Phong city. Hai Phong city added more information about the city’s true attention in cooperating with Australia partners in development of international education facilities, R&D centers, and delegation exchanges, etc./.
