Technical Workshop BOD waste water treatment at Ngoc Hai fishing port, Do Son

On 15/9/2022 Department of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and J-Fils Co., Ltd. (Kitakyushu city, Japan) organized a technical workshop on the project high BOD waste water at Ngoc Hai fishing port, Do Son". Funded by Japan International Cooperation Agency, the project has been implemented since 2019 with Department of Agriculture and Rural Development as the Project owner after approved by Hai Phong People's Committee. Once COVID-19 pandemic in Viet Nam and Japan wais under control, Kitakyushu experts had made business trips to work with the City’s relevant departments and agencies to exchange opinions, update on the project’s activities, organize on-site training on how to operate the waste water treatment system (CM system) and temporarily hand over it to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

CM System completely installed

At the workshop, representative of J-Fils Co., ltd introduced the project’s background, the CM system’s construction and installation at Ngoc Hai fishing port as well as its efficiency. After the trial operation at full capacity, Kitakyushu side sent the input and output samples to the Environmental Monitoring Center of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment for analysis. Based on the analysis result, all indicators was significantly decreased, in which, the BOD indicator was strongly decreased from 1698.8 mg/l to 2.5 mg/l.

Evaluating the wastewater treatment system after the trial operation at Ngoc Hai fishing port, representative of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development stated that the installation of the treatment system at the Fishing Port No. 2 under Ngoc Hai Fishing Port met the practical demand with great potential for application in businesses and production facilities producing large volume of organic wastewater. The Management Board of Fishing Ports committed to operate and use the system in line with the project’s goals. At the same time, in order to make good use of the system for long-term effieciency, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development proposed Kitakyushu International Technical Cooperation Association to continue implementing the project’s remaining components of training, in-depth instruction on operation and problem troubleshooting.

Together with other projects for green growth supported by Kitakyushu, the project High BOD waste water treatment at Ngoc Hai fishing port, Do Son" has initially proven its high efficiency and applicability for the whole city and businesses in this field.
