High-ranking delegation of the Dominican Left Movement Party (MIU) visited and worked in Hai Phong City

On February 19, 2023, the high-ranking delegation of the Dominican Left Movement Party (MIU) led by Mr. Mejia Abreu Jose Miguel, General Secretary, Minister of Regional Integration Policy, visited and learned about activities of VinFast Trading and Production Joint Stock Company in Hai Phong.

Attending the visit were Mr. Vo Tuan Ngoc, Deputy Director of American Department, Committee of External Relations of the Central Party Committee and Director of Foreign Affairs Department Nguyen Thi Bich Dung.

Mr. Tran Le Phuong, Deputy Director General in charge of external relations of VinFast, presented the company’s business and production activities, VinFast automobile manufacturing factory complex was established on an area of 335ha, including operation house, electric bicycle production area, car production area, electric bus manufacturing area, supporting industrial area, training center, research and development institute. Currently, the company has shipped 3 electric car models, 6 electric motorbike models and successfully produced an electric bus. The company plans to build a USD 4 billion electric car factory in North Carolina, USA.

General Secretary of the Dominican Left Movement Party congratulated VinFast, VinGroup for their achievements and practical contributions to the socio-economic development of Hai Phong in particular and of Viet Nam in general. The General Secretary informed that VinFast’s electric cars received positive feedback in the international media when coming to the US market, competing with other electric cars startups such as Rivian, Lucid, and even Tesla. Mr. Mejia Abreu Jose Miguel conveyed the invitation of the President of Dominican Republic to VinFast to research and expand investment factory in Dominica. In addition, Mr. Mejia Abreu Jose Miguel delivered the invitation of Dominican President to Hai Phong government and leaders of VinFast to visit and do survey in Dominica. VinFast’s decision to switch from conventional cars to electric cars is to catch up with the trend of electric car production, contribute to green transformation and fight climate change in line with the needs of Dominica.

Wrapping up the meeting, Director of Foreign Affairs Department expressed her gratitude to the General Secretary and the MIU’s delegates for taking the time to visit Hai Phong and would convey the invitation of the Dominican President to the city leaders and wished to enhance cooperation between both sides in the near future./.
