On February 23rd, 2022, Hai Phong Department of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with Hai Phong Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and J-Fils Co., Ltd. (Kitakyushu City, Japan) organized the ceremony of “Handover of equipment and final report of the project sewage treatment with high BOD concentration at Ngoc Hai fish port, Do Son district". Representatives of relevant agencies of Hai Phong, Kitakyushu, Japan International Cooperation Agency and businesses in the city.
Funded by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the project has been implemented since 2019 under the decision of Hai Phong People's Committee which assigned the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development as the project’s owner. After 04 years of implementation, the project has been highly appreciated by Hai Phong agencies for its efficiency. The system with solid structure, low energy consumption, adaptation to saline environment and without making noise can operate easily. Sewage after treatment is clear and can be used for cleaning tools and watering plants. The result of the output analysis has been approved and guaranteed requirement of after-treatment sewage.

Ms. Takahashi Misato - Representative of JICA stated that despite a difficult time of Covid -19 epidemic, the project had been delayed causing difficulties in preserving materials and equipment under construction. Thanks to the great efforts, high determination and close coordination of relevant agencies of Hai Phong and Kitakyushu, the system has officially been completed with positive results. She hoped that, with the installation of sewage treatment, activities to improve water quality in Vietnam will be further promoted.

At the ceremony, Mr. Tani Kazumi - Chairman of J-Fils Co., Ltd. made a presentation on unique features of the wastewater treatment system compared to the activated sludge method as well as the other as well as the preeminent efficiency of the system such as sewage treatment with high BOD concentration.

Participants also witnessed equipment transfer’ signing ceremony of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, JICA Vietnam Office and J-Fils Co., Ltd.

Mr. Vu Ba Cong - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said that the project has completed the targets set out in accordance with the MOU of JICA, Hai Phong People's Committee and J-Fils Co, Ltd. He also expressed his thanks to the relevant agencies and partners of Japan and Hai Phong for supporting the Management Board of the Fish Port and Fish Wharf (Department of Agriculture and Rural Development) to receive the system. The Management Board of the Fish Port and Fish Wharf will continue to operate the system as proposed objectives for bringing long-term effectiveness to the environment of Hai Phong city in general and Ngoc Hai fishing port in particular. At the same time, it is also important to propagate and disseminate this model to be replicated in the whole city.
