On the afternoon of March 3, 2023, Hai Phong Department of Foreign Affairs and Nanning Department of Foreign Affairs (Guangxi Province, China) held an online meeting to discuss cooperation between the two cities in 2023. Director of Hai Phong Department of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Thi Bich Dung and Director of Nanning Department of Foreign Affairs Banh Kien co-chaired the online meeting.
During the meeting, the two sides effectively discussed and reached an agreement on the implementation of cooperation activities in 2023 as follows: (1) Nanning City invite Hai Phong City delegation to Nanning to attend the China - ASEAN Exhibition expected to be held on September 16, 2023, as well as invite the Hai Phong art troupe to Nanning to perform in appropriate events; Hai Phong City cordially invite the Nanning art troupe to attend and perform at the Red Flamboyant Festival in May 2023; (2) Nanning wishes to receive support of Hai Phong City for delegations of authorities and businesses to visit and work in Hai Phong; Hai Phong will create all favorable conditions for delegations of Nanning City in Hai Phong; (3) Nanning Department of Foreign Affairs will send the updated photos of Nanning City to participate in the Photo Exhibition of Friendship Cities with Hai Phong organized by Department of Foreign Affairs; (4) The two sides also agreed to regularly update information on the socio-economic achievements, the pictures and video clips of two localities for posting on the websites of two Departments of Foreign Affairs and other information channels to propagate and introduce to Hai Phong people about Nanning City and vice versa; (5) In the field of education: Hai Phong suggested that the two sides to actively promote student and pupil exchange activities to introduce the culture of two countries and two localities; appoint teachers from Nanning City to teach Chinese in Hai Phong City; and at the same time, organize short training-courses for civil servants and officials of two sides. Nanning City will grant 02 full scholarships to Hai Phong pupils in 2023; will also soon discuss with schools to appoint teachers to teach the Chinese at the schools of Hai Phong City as proposed by Department of Foreign Affairs. Nanning agreed to soon promote the organization of short training courses for civil servants and officials of departments and branches of Hai Phong City in Nanning; (6) The two sides also agreed to further promote exchange activities between two departments of foreign affairs; (7) Nanning proposed the establishment of an exchange mechanism among localities in the economic corridor of Hai Phong - Ha Noi - Bac Giang - Bac Ninh - Nanning to develop close relationships with cities within the economic corridor; and concurrently, support and connect businesses to speed up economic development through cooperation mechanisms.
At the end of the meeting, the two sides agreed to continue exchanging and providing more information related to some activities; and actively participate and promote the implementation of activities agreed by the two sides.
