Speaking at the ceremony, Secretary of State Christian Rickerts shared the difficulties and challenges that Vietnam is facing in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the Secretary of State, Vietnam has long been considered a model in pandemic prevention and has successfully controlled it for a long time. Currently, Vietnam is facing the rapid spread of Delta variant - a very contagious and very dangerous variant. The number of test kits that the Berlin Government and people have donated to Vietnam is to show international solidarity with Vietnam in this difficult and complicated fight. This is also in gratitude to Vietnam and the Vietnamese community in Germany for donating and supporting Berlin with masks and other goods to prevent the pandemic in the past time.
Secretary of State Christian Rickerts also said that Vietnam is an important partner of Germany in Southeast Asia. “Germany in general and Berlin in particular wish to continue to further promote the comprehensive cooperative relationship with Vietnam, for the mutual benefit of the two sides,” he added.
For his part, Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany Nguyen Minh Vu expressed his sincere thanks to Berlin and other German states for supporting Vietnam in this fight.
Assessing the relationship between Vietnam and Germany over the past time, Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu said that the cooperation between the two sides is developing very well. The Ambassador hoped that the German federal government in general, the Berlin government and other localities in particular, would continue to support and promote joint projects between the two sides and contribute to Germany-Vietnam strategic cooperation.
The ambassador also thanked the administrations of Berlin and other states for creating conditions for the Vietnamese community in Germany to do business and live stably, and make positive contributions to the prosperous development of Germany.
Earlier, many localities of Germany presented quick test kits, ventilators, face masks and medical supplies to Vietnam. These products have been received and quickly shipped to provinces and cities to serve the prevention of the pandemic./.
