
In the morning of July 04, Mr. Nguyen Van Tung, Chairman of Hai Phong People’s Committee, received H.E. Mrs. Grete Lochen, Ambassador of Royal Norway to Vietnam, on her official visit to Hai Phong City. The meeting was attended by Mr. Hoang Minh Cuong, Vice Chairman of Hai Phong People’s Committee, and leaders of relevant departments, agencies and units.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tung underlined the proper time to lift up cooperative relation between Hai Phong and investors, enterprises of Royal Norway. The Chairman wished to have Mrs. Grete Lochen’s support in fostering Norway – Vietnam cooperation in general and Norway - Hai Phong in particular.

At the meeting, the Embassy’s delegation was briefed on the City’s outstanding economic and social achievements. According to Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee Hoang Minh Cuong, the city has always considered Norwegian enterprises as potential partners for cooperation, specifically in high technology, maritime economy, environment protection, clean energy development. Currently, there has been one Norwegian project in ship building in Hai Phong City that is modest in comparison to both sides’ potentials. He expected that there would be more Norwegian investment into the city in the coming time.

As for the Embassy’s side, Mrs. Grete Lochen expressed her impression on the socio-economic development of Hai Phong City, emphasizing the similarity between Vietnam and Norway regarding geographic location, which was an essential ground for the two sides’s cooperation, particularly in offshore wind power. Norwegian enterprises have been willing to exchange experience with Hai Phong in the field of renewable energy, effective green and smart city building./.
