On the afternoon of August 24, Mr. Le Khac Nam, Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong City People's Committee, hosted a courtesy meeting with the Vietnam-Singapore Young Leaders Delegation, led by Mr. Nassar Mohamad Zain, Chairman of the Malay Youth Literary Association (Singapore). The delegation visited Hai Phong as part of the 2024 Vietnam-Singapore Young Leaders Dialogue with the theme “Youth Pioneering Innovation for Change.” Also attending the meeting were representatives from the Vietnam Young Leaders Delegation, Hai Phong City People's Committee Office, and various city departments including Foreign Affairs, Science and Technology, and the Hai Phong Youth Union.

In his welcome remarks, Mr. Le Khac Nam warmly welcomed the Vietnam-Singapore Young Leaders Delegation and shared information about Hai Phong's developments in science, technology, and innovation. He emphasized that the city’s leadership recognizes the critical importance of these fields and has proactively implemented policies and strategies to promote innovation. As a result, Hai Phong ranks third in the national innovation index with a score of 52.32 points. The city has also successfully piloted the TCVN ISO 18091:2020 standard for total quality management of local government operations across 12 agencies and units. Additionally, Hai Phong hosts the annual Techfest Hai Phong, a prestigious international event. These contributions have helped the city maintain top rankings in administrative reform, placing first in 2021 and second in both 2022 and 2023. In 2023, the city’s GRDP grew by 10.34%, placing it fifth nationwide. Hai Phong also achieved over 102 trillion VND in total budget revenue and attracted over 3.5 billion USD in foreign direct investment (FDI). Moving forward, Hai Phong aims to maintain its comprehensive and sustainable development by further advancing innovation and applying science and technology to its socio-economic life.

Mr. Le Khac Nam,The Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee, expressed his hope that experts and young delegates from both countries would exchange ideas and share practical experiences regarding the implementation of innovation-driven solutions in their respective regions and nations. He also encouraged the delegates to offer new perspectives on emerging technological trends, innovations, and future products. Mr. Cuong requested the Hai Phong Youth Union and the Department of Science and Technology to continue researching and advising the city government on policies that promote innovation, particularly among young entrepreneurs and startups.

On behalf of the delegation, Mr. Nassar Mohamad Zain thanked the city’s leadership for their warm hospitality. He noted that the visit provided valuable opportunities for the delegation members to directly learn from Hai Phong's experience in economic development, supporting youth entrepreneurship, sustainable urban development, and improving the quality of life for citizens. The visit also served as a platform for exchanging ideas and exploring opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation between the two cities and their young leaders. Mr. Zain expressed optimism that this visit would open doors for collaborative initiatives that enable the youth of both countries to play an active role in shaping the future of their generation.
