In 2024, Vietnam has achieved outstanding achievements in ensuring information security, improving its position on the global cybersecurity map. The Government has taken strong steps in directing information security work. The Prime Minister issued Directive No. 09/CT-TTg dated February 23, 2024, requiring compliance with legal regulations and strengthening information system security at all levels. In addition, Official Dispatch No. 33/CD-TTg dated April 7, 2024 also introduced measures to protect network information security, strengthening direction and management in this field. Thanks to effective direction policies and innovative strategies, Vietnam has made great strides, becoming a model in the region in information security.

Vietnam rises to top 20 on global rankings
With a score of 99.74/100, Vietnam ranks17th out of 194 countries (from 25th in 2023), and officially belongs to Group I Model, including 46 countries. This achievement affirms Vietnam's continuous efforts in improving information security protection capacity. In the Asia-Pacific region, Vietnam ranks 4th, only after Korea, Indonesia and Singapore. This shows that Vietnam is making continuous efforts to increase security in the digital environment, overcome many challenges and face increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.
One of the notable highlights in 2024 is that Viettel's team of cyber security experts won the "World Cup" of the global cyber security industry. This is an international victory, affirming Vietnam's professional capacity and technological strength in protecting cyberspace.
Strongly deploying comprehensive information security measures
Many programs and initiatives to improve the effectiveness of information security protection nationwide have been implemented. The Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) has supported 100% of ministries, branches and localities in reviewing and implementing measures to ensure network safety and security through platforms developed by the Ministry itself. More than 622 information security specialists in state agencies and enterprises have participated in practical exercises organized by the MIC, contributing to improving the ability to respond to threats.
The network of information security has been built and strongly expanded from the central to local levels. National-scale technical systems have connected 100% of ministries, localities and large organizations, creating a synchronous and unified network information security monitoring posture. This not only helps protect national information systems but also creates a solid foundation for large-scale information security management. By the end of 2024, the number of information systems approved for information security level profiles had increased sharply by 27%, reaching 92% (compared to 65% in 2023). Notably, more than 70% of online users in 63 provinces and cities of Vietnam have been protected by the SafeNet Internet Connection Platform, helping to minimize risks from online threats.
In addition, 8,558 fraudulent and illegal websites have been handled, protecting more than 1.3 million people from dangerous websites. The fight against spam messages and spam calls has also achieved positive results, with more than 834,000 complaints received and processed in the year.
In conclusion, 2024 is a memorable year for Vietnam's information security industry, with many encouraging achievements. Vietnam has not only raised its global position in information security but also built a strong information security ecosystem, from technical infrastructure to human resources. This is a solid foundation for Vietnam to face future cybersecurity challenges and affirm its position as an advanced country in information security in the region and the world.
