On the morning of May 13, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Hoang Minh Cuong received a delegation from Preah Sihanouk Province, Kingdom of Cambodia, led by Mr. Samuth Sothearith, Deputy Governor of Preah Sihanouk Province, to attend the 70th Anniversary of Hai Phong Liberation Day and the Opening Ceremony of the Red Flamboyant Festival in 2025. Also attending the reception were representatives of leaders of relevant departments and branches.
The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee welcomed the delegation of Preah Sihanouk Province (Cambodia), and informed that Hai Phong is an important gateway to the sea of the North and the whole country, with all 5 types of transportation and the largest seaport system in the North, including Lach Huyen Port - a deep-water port with direct international connection. In 2024, GRDP increased by 11%, leading the country in PCI, PAR Index and SIPAS. The city attracted 4.9 billion USD of FDI capital in 2024, with 1,071 valid projects. Hai Phong currently has 14 industrial parks and plans to expand 20 new ones. The city has also approved the Southern Coastal Economic Zone with a scale of 20,000 hectares, aiming for green and sustainable development. On April 28, 2025, Hai Phong city was awarded the title "Heroic City" by the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
Mr. Samuth Sothearith, Deputy Governor of Preah Sihanouk Province, expressed his sincere thanks for the warm and respectful welcome from the city leaders. At the same time, he highly appreciated the socio-economic development orientations of the city, and was especially impressed with the strategic vision and comprehensive development results that Hai Phong has achieved in the past time. On this occasion, Deputy Governor Samuth Sothearith also gave an overview of the socio-economic development situation, potential, strengths as well as development orientations of Preah Sihanouk Province, Kingdom of Cambodia.
This visit by the Deputy Governor of Preah Sihanouk Province is a testament to the good friendship, trust and close cooperation between the two localities. This is also an opportunity for leaders of both sides to continue to strengthen and promote practical cooperation programs, contributing to deepening the traditional partnership between Preah Sihanouk Province and Hai Phong City./.
