(HPĐT)- On October 05 afternoon, Mr. Nguyen Duc Tho, Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee, Standing Deputy Head of City’s Transportation Safety Committee, hosted a meeting on transport safety work evaluation of the third quarter of 2021 and implementation of tasks ongoing months.
Attending the meeting, there were members of the City’s Transportation Safety Committee, representatives of urban and rural districts, and related departments.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Tho, Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee, underlined: in the current 09 months, the city has successfully implemented “dual targets”, organization of crucial political and social events, and attempts in guarantee transport safety in the city’s area. However, traffic accidents in the city have complicatedly been happened, the number of passengers injured when participating in transport increased 21% compared to the same period of 2020. To control and reduce traffic accidents in the ending months of 2021, Mr. Nguyen Duc Tho requested the city’s mass media agencies boost “duration, frequency”of propaganda and popularize legal education on transport safety so that passengers would increase their awareness and skills. The city transport association increases propaganda to transport enterprises on strictly complying with regulations on safe driving, regularly checking quality of vehicles before leaving and returning to stations. Departments and localities push up reviewing unsafe transport points to soon get repair measures, ensure safety and clear vision on roads and intersection points.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Tho requested project investors to check and review safety conditions at under-construction transport projects. He also required functional departments to enhance monitoring cargo and passenger transport vehicles activities to seek out and handle violated cases. The City Police Department boosts patrols, monitoring, preventing, and handling transport safety violation cases, notably "homemade" cars causing traffic unsafety. Urban and rural districts People’s Committees need to seriously review and suggest measures to control the number of deaths by traffic accidents.
According to a report of the city’s Transport Safety Committee, in the early 09 months of 2021, in the city’s area, there were 51 traffic accident cases causing 40 deaths and 28 injuries. Compared to the same period of 2020, the number of traffic accidents decreased 01 case, 01 death, but number of injuries increased 21.1%. 06 localities that got deaths due to traffic accidents were: Le Chan, Ngo Quyen, Hai An, Duong Kinh, An Duong, An Lao, Tien Lang, Cat Hai.
