On the morning of October 22, the City Union of Science and Technology Associations in collaboration with Department of Construction, Hong Bang District People's Committee, and the City Architect Association held a scientific conference on preserving and promoting the value of the central urban area of Hai Phong City. Attending the conference, there were Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Mr. Nguyen Duc Tho; Dr. Architect Phan Dang Son, Chairman of Vietnam Architect Association; leaders of relevant departments.

Giving the opening speech at the conference, Chairman of the City Union of Science and Technology Associations stated that, under the pressure of time, the process of massive urbanization along with the lack of scientific methods in the planning management, the conservation and preservation of the central urban area are in need of serious consideration and evaluation from the multi-dimensional perspectives of experts and scientists at the conference.

He expected that the conference will be an intellectual meeting to find and continuously affirm the values of ancient architecture existing in the city center urban area of Hai Phong City. On that basis, it could find a common voice, and propose effective, long-term, and sustainable solutions to preserve and promote the value of these heritages.
