Delighted to welcome the King and Queen of Belgium to visit, Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Tung informed about some socio-economic features of the city, emphasizing Hai Phong's position in the Northern region, with a synchronous infrastructure system, inter-regional and international traffic connections; the largest seaport system in the North and high-speed railway projects are preparing to be implemented. Currently, Hai Phong is actively establishing more industrial parks ready to attract new investors. The Government has also just announced the Decision to establish the Southern Hai Phong Coastal Economic Zone with many conditions to develop more projects on airports, Nam Do Son port, free trade zones, industrial parks, industrial clusters, new urban areas, etc.

Over the years, Hai Phong city has continuously promoted cooperation with the Kingdom of Belgium in many fields, from economics - trade, foreign direct investment to education and scientific research. Accordingly, as of February 2025, Hai Phong currently has 8 FDI projects of Belgian investors with a total capital of up to 743.22 million USD. Belgian corporations and enterprises have invested in Hai Phong in the fields of industrial park (IP) infrastructure business and maritime services, electricity production, hotel investment and business. Notably, DEEP C Industrial Park Complex is the largest and most extensive cooperation project, contributing significantly to the development of the IP system and attracting FDI investment in Hai Phong. The city is committed to creating conditions, supporting and accompanying Belgian enterprises to invest and do business in Hai Phong.
King Philippe of Belgium hopes this will be a driving force to promote cooperation between the two sides.

In addition, the Institute of Marine Resources and Environment in Hai Phong is implementing a number of scientific research projects funded by the Kingdom of Belgium. These projects focus on port environmental management and environmental risk assessment, contributing to supporting sustainable development in the city.
