On the morning of April 2, 2023, the French Navy frigate PRAIRIAL made landfall at Chua Ve Port and started a courtesy visit to Hai Phong City from April 2 to April 6, 2023.

The PRAIRIAL frigate has a total of 99 officers, non-commissioned officers, and crew, commanded by Colonel Francois MAIGNAN. The frigate has a length of 93.5m, a width of 14m, and a tonnage of 2950 tons. This is the fourth time, the PRAIRIAL frigate has paid visits to Vietnam.
Mrs. Nguyen Thi Bich Dung, Director of Department of Foreign Affairs, presented flowers to Colonel Francois MAIGNAN, commander of the PRAIRIAL frigate.
The welcoming ceremony at Chua Ve Port was organized at 10:30 am on April 2, 2023, and chaired by Mrs. Nguyen Thi Bich Dung, Director of Department of Foreign Affairs. Attending the ceremony, on the Vietnamese side, there were representatives of the High Command of Region No.1 of the Vietnam People’s Navy, the Command of the City Military, the Command of the City Border Guard, the Command of Hai Phong Port Border Guard, and some press agencies. On the French side, there were the Defense Attaché and some officials of the French Embassy in Vietnam.

During the visit, the command group of the frigate will have courtesy meetings with the leaders of Hai Phong City People's Committee and the High Command of Region No.1 of the Vietnam People’s Navy. In addition, the PRAIRIAL frigate will conduct practice with Vietnam People's Navy ships.

Over the past time, the defense cooperation relationship between Vietnam and France has increasingly developed and achieved positive results in both bilateral and multilateral ways. The visit of the French Navy frigate contributes to promoting exchanges and cooperation between the two countries' navies in particular, the defense cooperation relationship between Vietnam and France in general, and makes a practical contribution to the 50th anniversary of Franco-Vietnamese diplomatic relations and the 10th anniversary of the bilateral strategic relationship between two countries./.
