On the morning of June 28, at the City Convention Center, the Central Economic Commission and the City People's Committee held a conference themed "Promoting the formation of a smart dynamic urban chain in the Red River Delta connecting the region and the world", which was co-chaired by Mr. Nguyen Duc Hien, Vice Chairman of the Central Economic Commission, Mr. Le Duc Tho, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee. The conference was attended by international experts, leaders of provinces, cities, domestic and international corporations.

The Red River Delta is one of the six socio-economic regions of the country, a particularly important area in terms of politics, economy, society, national defense and security; a synchronous transport system, which is convenient in connecting localities in the country as well as with other countries in the region and the world.

Previously, the Politburo had issued Resolution No. 52-NQ/TW on setting the goal of forming some smart urban chains in the key economic regions of the North, the South and the Central of Vietnam; step by step connect with smart city networks in the region and the world; Resolution No. 06-NQ/TW on building a central smart city network at national and regional level with international connection and 3-5 cities of which brandnames are regionally and nationally recognized by 2030.

At the conference, the delegates focused on sharing and clarifying the following issues: building and implementing smart urban development projects with high connectivity; the ability to link cities in the region for economic growth and sustainable development; applying GIS systems and digital technology in the planning of smart urban development, based on which solutions were proposed to strengthen the connection in urban areas, the region, and the world; considering the planning policies to attract and encourage private investment for smart city projects; the obstacles in developing digital infrastructure, digital technology, and smart service ecosystem as well as risks and solutions to ensure safety and security for smart cities./.
