The task team of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headed by Deputy Minister, Chairman of the State Committee For Overseas Vietnamese (SCOV) Dang Minh Khoi worked in Haiphong on foreign affairs, especially the cooperation relation between Haiphong and Russian Federation. Mr. Le Anh Quan – Standing Deputy Chairman of Haiphong People’s Committee received and worked with the task force. Also attending the working session were representative of relevant sectors, branches and units. At the working session, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dang Minh Khoi stated that the overseas Vietnamese community has constantly developed in both quantity and quality, with some 4.5 million people living in more than 110 countries and territories, of which Haiphong is the homeland of more than 30,000 overseas compatriots, over 500,000 of whom have university and higher degrees. Many of them are leading engineers and experts in the locations of science and technology, economy, finance and some have joined in the foreign political system. Delivering his speech at the working session, Standing Deputy Chairman of Haiphong People’s Committee Le Anh Quan affirmed that over the past time, the overseas Vietnamese task of Haiphong has obtained encouraging results. Haiphong overseas believe in the guidelines and policies of the party, the state and the city, and are making practical activities towards the homeland. Informing the cooperation relationship between Haiphong city and Russian Federation, leaders of Department of Foreign Affairs stated that Haiphong ha still maintained cooperation relation with Russian Federation via the authority delegation exchanges. Haiphong now has 3 projects directly invested by the Russian Federation with the total capital of roughly USD 1 million. Besides, the city has cooperated with the Russian Federation in all sided fields as education and training, culture, tourism…In the coming time, to boost the strategic cooperation relationship, Haiphong hopes to receive supports in introducing information and advertising city’s images towards localities, partners of the Russian Federation, connect with Vietnam’s diplomatic representative agents in foreign countries to support Haiphong overseas to join in activities for overseas Vietnamese./.
