Tan Cang Hai Phong International Container Terminal (TC-HICT) Welcomes ZIM's First West Coast US-Connecting Vessel

On the morning of May 3, Tan Cang Hai Phong International Container Terminal (TC-HICT) held a welcome ceremony for the Zim Falcon vessel – the first vessel of ZIM shipping line to operate the trans-Pacific ZIM E-Commerce Express (ZEX) service route directly connecting the U.S. West Coast.

 

Representatives of ZIM shipping line, captain, crew of ZIM Falcon vessel, and TC-HICT Port welcomed the first vessel of the ZEX maritime service route docking safely at the port.

ZIM Falcon vessel has a capacity of 65,275 DWT (equivalent to 5,315 TEU), length of 237.8 meters with the route: Cai Mep – Hai Phong (TC-HICT) – Yantain – Los Angeles. This is one of the newly built and most modern mother vessels of ZIM shipping line today.

 

The ZEX service route is a breakthrough solution, providing customers with high-class, fast, reliable service from the markets of Vietnam and Southern China to the U.S. West Coast. With a 17-day journey from TC-HICT port to Los Angeles port (U.S.), the service route offers customers the fastest shipping time, suitable for time-sensitive shipments, electronics, high-value goods...

 

With ZIM shipping line operating 2 trans-Pacific service routes directly to the U.S. East Coast and West Coast, it affirms the service quality and operational capacity of TC-HICT.

From TC-HICT, currently, ZIM is effectively operating the ZXB service route connecting with the U.S. East Coast. In the first quarter of 2025, ZIM’s throughput at TC-HICT ranked among the top 3 shipping lines with the largest throughput, increasing by 152% compared to the same period in 2024.

In the context of vibrant competition at Lach Huyen port area, the launch of the new ZEX service route at TC-HICT helps ZIM shipping line operate 2 trans-Pacific service routes directly to both the U.S. East Coast and West Coast at TC-HICT. At the same time, it affirms the service quality, operation, and close cooperation between the port operator and the shipping line, contributing to increasing export cargo volume from the Northern region to the U.S. in the near future.
