Successful Model of Supporting the Establishment and Maintenance of Small Business Startups Utilizing Local Strengths

On December 20th, after a year of implementing the project "Enhancing Skills and Employment Opportunities for High-Risk Labor Groups, Especially Young Migrants," the Department of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs, in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), held a conference to review the model of supporting the establishment and maintenance of small business startups that leverage local strengths.
The conference was attended by Mr. Đào Xuân Hùng, the Deputy Head of the Department of Social Prevention at the Department of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs of Hai Phong; Ms. Lê Thị Bình, the Program Officer from IOM; Mr. Vũ Văn Tuấn, the Lead Consultant of the project and Director of T&C Consulting; along with representatives from various government agencies such as the Department of Foreign Affairs, Planning and Investment, the City Police, the Youth Union, the Women's Union, and the Farmers' Union, as well as business owners.
 
 
The conference focused on evaluating the technical support provided to each business model based on their needs and emphasized the potential for these models to generate local employment. Participants shared their experiences, discussed challenges faced, and identified lessons learned for future interventions, while also focusing on ensuring the sustainability of these results after the project.
During the conference, business owners and local firms shared their experiences regarding the effectiveness of technical support, the challenges they encountered, and proposed solutions for further support. IOM representatives and experts evaluated the technical assistance provided to each model, highlighted the potential for job creation, and discussed improvements needed. Solutions for more effective support were proposed, and a commitment to continue assisting the models until the project concludes in February 2025 was reaffirmed
