Strengthening Vietnam-U.S. Trade: Developing Supplier Networks and Enhancing Exports

On November 22, 2024, the Hai Phong Department of Industry and Trade, in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Trade's European-American Market Department, hosted a roundtable discussion focused on developing a supplier network deeply integrated into U.S. value chains. This event took place at the Mercure Hai Phong Hotel and attracted nearly 100 participants, including government officials, local enterprises, and foreign organizations, with a speaker from AmCham Hanoi.
With the U.S. continuing to be Vietnam's largest export market, the roundtable aimed to provide solutions to enhance the export capacity of Vietnamese businesses, foster connections with potential partners, and increase access to U.S. market information. The goal was also to promote the integration of Vietnamese businesses into U.S. value chains, which would improve their competitiveness and secure sustainable trade relations.
The roundtable discussed key strategies, such as modernizing products, improving product structures, and applying advanced quality management standards. It also highlighted the importance of investing in raw materials, supporting industries, and accelerating the localization process to increase the value-added content of Vietnamese exports.
The Hai Phong Department of Industry and Trade reported a 36.53% increase in total trade turnover with the U.S. in the first 10 months of 2024, reaching 1.65 billion USD, with exports accounting for 1.48 billion USD.
The event emphasized the need for continuous dialogue between businesses and policymakers to navigate the evolving political and economic landscape, aiming to enhance the long-term trade and investment relationship between Vietnam and the U.S.
