On the afternoon of June 17, Mr. Hoàng Minh Cường, Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong People's Committee, welcomed a delegation from Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province (China), led by Mr. Li Jun, Mayor of Jiaxing, during their visit and working session in Hai Phong.The meeting was also attended by representatives from various departments, sectors, and relevant parties.

Upon welcoming the delegation, Mr. Hoang Minh Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong City People's Committee, stated that in recent years, Hai Phong has consistently been one of Vietnam's fastest-growing localities. The city's total foreign direct investment (FDI) attraction in 2023 reached USD 3.62 billion, ranking second nationwide. Currently, there are 952 valid FDI projects in Hai Phong, with a total registered investment capital of USD 30.7 billion from investors representing 39 countries and territories. Among these, China is a strategic partner of Hai Phong, with a significant proportion of projects and investment capital, totaling 394 projects and USD 6.1 billion in registered investment. Notably, among the projects by Chinese investors is Flat Glass (Vietnam) Company, a successful enterprise operating in Hai Phong whose owner is a citizen of Jiaxing City.

The Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee, Hoang Minh Cuong, expressed strong agreement with the proposal from the delegation of Jiaxing city, stating that in the coming time, there should be further strengthened cooperation in fields such as manufacturing, production of electronic components, automobiles, and machinery; enhancing trade exchanges; cultural exchanges; and people-to-people connections. He also suggested that both sides could expand cooperation in areas like education, healthcare, tourism, and direct international flights to Hai Phong. The city always welcome and will create favorable conditions for foreign businesses in general, and those from Jiaxing in particular, to explore opportunities and invest effectively in compliance with regulations. The Vice Chairman expressed hope that after this working visit, more businesses and partners from Jiaxing will come to Hai Phong for investment opportunities, opening up more avenues for cooperation between the two cities in various sectors.

Mr. Jiaxing , City Mayor Li Quan shared that, through research, Hai Phong has many similarities with Jiaxing in terms of its transportation system, seaports, airports, and railways, providing numerous opportunities for cooperation and investment between the two cities. Mayor Li Quan also expressed a desire for Hai Phong to continue facilitating the operations of Flat Glass Company in manufacturing and business. After this visit, the delegation will strengthen information dissemination and promote Hai Phong as a dynamic, developed, friendly, and hospitable city to the people and businesses of Jiaxing, in order to enhance the exchange and cooperation between the two sides become even closer and more effective.
