Strengthening Cooperation with Hai Phong in the Field of Logistics

On the afternoon of April 16, at the Headquarters of the Hai Phong Party Committee, Mr. Le Tien Chau – Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, and Head of the Hai Phong National Assembly Delegation – hosted and held a working session with a delegation from Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (Japan), led by Mr. Norio Abe, Executive Officer of the Group.

Also attending the delegation were Mr. Dao Manh Sen, Chairman of the Board of Directors of HTM Investment Group Joint Stock Company, along with representatives of relevant departments, sectors, and agencies.

During the meeting, Secretary Le Tien Chau expressed his pleasure in welcoming the delegation from one of the world’s largest maritime transport corporations with a long-standing global presence. He emphasized that Hai Phong is a centrally governed city with distinct advantages in geographical location, transportation infrastructure, and streamlined investment procedures. The city has consistently maintained a strong economic growth rate, reaching double digits over the past decade. These are key factors that make Hai Phong an attractive destination for international investors.

The Secretary also shared updates on the MVG Chemical Warehouse Project in the Deep C Industrial Zone, which is currently being jointly developed by Mitsui O.S.K. Lines in collaboration with HTM, GoldenLink, and VISECO. He affirmed that the city always supports and facilitates investment projects, provided they comply with the law and align with Hai Phong’s orientation toward green, ecological, sustainable development and the application of advanced, environmentally friendly technology.

Regarding the proposed investment in the Cau Cu Industrial Park Project, the Secretary stated that the city is ready to provide maximum support in administrative procedures, and encourages businesses to expand investment cooperation – especially in the logistics sector, which is a strength of the Group – to meet Hai Phong’s growing demand for freight transport. He also proposed that Mitsui O.S.K. Lines consider opening a branch office in Hai Phong to help enhance the city’s transport capacity and support its future socio-economic development.

On behalf of the delegation, Mr. Norio Abe expressed his gratitude for the warm reception from the city’s leaders and shared that the Group is actively studying new potential projects. He emphasized that Vietnam in general and Hai Phong in particular are markets with great development potential. He highly appreciated the local government's efforts in creating a favorable investment environment and attracting FDI enterprises, affirming that the Group will closely coordinate with the city to promote effective cooperation across multiple fields in the near future.
