Mr. Nguyen Van Tung, Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee, received Mr. Palvil Todorov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bulgaria to Vietnam.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tung warmly welcomed Ambassador Palvil Todorov to Hai Phong and emphasized the long-standing friendship between Vietnam and Bulgaria. Over time, this strong relationship has been continuously nurtured and developed by the leaders and people of both countries. The Ambassador's visit is a testament to the ongoing enhancement of the friendship between Vietnam and Bulgaria, particularly between Hai Phong and Bulgarian localities and partners.Currently, cooperation in investment and trade promotion between Hai Phong and Bulgarian localities and partners remains modest. Chairman Nguyen Van Tung expressed his hope that the Ambassador, in his role as a bridge, would strengthen information sharing and facilitate Bulgarian businesses in seeking opportunities for cooperation and investment in Hai Phong.

Providing an overview of Hai Phong's geographical advantages and socio-economic development achievements, especially its prominence in attracting investment within Vietnam, Chairman Nguyen Van Tung highlighted the city’s significant potential for tourism development. This is particularly relevant with the UNESCO recognition of the Ha Long Bay – Cat Ba Archipelago as a World Natural Heritage site, offering opportunities for Bulgarian enterprises to explore and cooperate.
The Chairman also affirmed Hai Phong’s intention to further research and promote collaboration in high technology, education and training, and other areas where Bulgaria has strengths. Regarding the upcoming visit of the Bulgarian President to Vietnam, as mentioned by the Ambassador, Chairman Nguyen Van Tung expressed Hai Phong’s enthusiasm in welcoming the President to the city.

Ambassador Palvil Todorov, expressing his gratitude for the city's warm reception, shared his positive impressions of Hai Phong's dynamic development. He noted that Hai Phong is home to the Vietnam–Bulgaria Friendship Association, which organizes meaningful and practical activities. Additionally, Bulgaria has approximately 500 Vietnamese people living and working there, underscoring the significant potential for economic, trade, investment, cultural exchange, and people-to-people cooperation between Hai Phong and Bulgarian localities. The Ambassador emphasized that the Bulgarian President's visit to Vietnam will be a valuable opportunity to further enhance the multifaceted cooperation and friendship between the two countries. He also highlighted the significance of the 75th anniversary of Vietnam–Bulgaria diplomatic relations (1950–2025), expressing his hope that Hai Phong will actively participate in meaningful activities to deepen this important milestone.
