From the very beginning of 2025, at the construction sites of key projects in industrial zones and economic zones across the city, engineers and workers are enthusiastically working to accelerate progress to meet set timelines and put projects into operation soon. This effort lays the groundwork for Hai Phong to continue meeting its industrial development targets and Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) growth.
Many Projects Aim for Early Completion
At the construction site of the ECOVANCE High-Tech Biodegradable Material Factory Project (Dinh Vu Industrial Zone), equipment and machinery from South Korea have been transported in preparation for installation. According to Ecovance Vietnam Co., Ltd. (SK Group, South Korea), the project has a total investment of VND 2,377 billion and covers an area of 3.2 hectares. Groundbreaking took place on November 5, 2024. Currently, the construction phase is 90% complete, the mechanical and fire protection systems are 90% complete, and technical support facilities are 40% finished. The investor is striving to complete the project by Q3 of 2025.
Similarly, the USI Vietnam Manufacturing Plant Project – Phase 2, located in Dinh Vu Industrial Zone and started on April 10, 2024, is also progressing rapidly. The investor plans to complete construction by March 2025. This project involves the production and assembly of electronic circuit boards, wearable devices, smart handheld devices, consumer electronics, and components. Creating Momentum for Business Development
In 2024, Hai Phong’s industrial and economic zones attracted USD 4.35 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI), achieving 242% of the annual target and raising cumulative FDI to USD 30.3 billion. Over 77% of these projects focus on high-tech industries, manufacturing, processing, and logistics. Notably, businesses in these zones showed strong business performance, exceeding planned indicators. In 2024, estimated revenue reached USD 33.5 billion (105% of the annual target), and tax contributions were about VND 12,350 billion (104% of the annual target).
Also in 2024, Hai Phong achieved over 11% GRDP growth, continuing its streak of 10 consecutive years of double-digit growth. Experts highlight the significant contributions of businesses in the city’s industrial and economic zones to this overall performance. According to Mr. Bruno Jaspaert, General Director of the DEEP C Industrial Zone Complex, the complex currently hosts 152 projects with a total registered capital of USD 4.7 billion — including 95 FDI projects (USD 3.9 billion) and 57 DDI projects (USD 799 million). By the end of 2024, DEEP C companies had contributed VND 1,689 billion to the city’s budget through taxes. Mr. Jaspaert emphasized that DEEP C has consistently received attention and support from the city authorities and looks forward to continued cooperation to expand investment in Hai Phong.
Recently, during a New Year visit for the Year of the Snake 2025, Mr. Le Tien Chau, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Hai Phong Party Committee, and Head of the City’s National Assembly Delegation, visited and encouraged several exemplary businesses in the industrial and economic zones. Mr. Chau affirmed that these zones have become powerful growth engines, playing a vital role in Hai Phong’s economic development. For 2025, Hai Phong targets 12.5% GRDP growth and aims for 15.6% or higher during the 2026–2030 period. The city hopes enterprises will build on their achievements, continue expanding operations, and contribute significantly to Hai Phong’s GRDP growth. The city commits to always accompanying businesses, providing genuine and effective support to promote their development, and contributing to the city’s overall success.
