On the afternoon of March 28, the Hai Phong Economic Zone Authority, in collaboration with the city’s Post Office, organized the workshop titled “Optimal Logistics Solutions for Businesses in Industrial Zones and Economic Zones of Hai Phong City.”
With over 100 participating businesses, the workshop provided an opportunity for policymakers, experts, service providers, and the business community to exchange knowledge, share experiences, and propose feasible solutions to enhance logistics efficiency, reduce costs, and strengthen supply chain connectivity. It also served as a forum to promote green logistics and sustainable development, offering insights into available services and best practices.
At the event, Mr. Bùi Ngọc Hải, Deputy Head of Hai Phong Economic Zone Authority, emphasized that Hai Phong, as an important logistics hub in Northern Vietnam, boasts significant advantages for logistics development. The city has proactively implemented a modern and synchronized logistics plan, focusing on large-scale logistics centers like Đình Vũ–Cát Hải, Nam Đình Vũ, and VSIP. These centers serve not only as storage and transshipment hubs but also as key links in the global supply chain, directly connecting industrial zones, seaports, and strategic transport routes.
Mr. Hải noted that thanks to these advantages, Hai Phong’s logistics sector has achieved impressive growth, maintaining an annual increase of 20–23% and contributing approximately 13–15% to the city’s GRDP. The city is home to around 250 logistics companies, employing over 170,000 workers, and more than 60 large warehouses covering 700+ hectares, mostly located near major port areas such as Đình Vũ, Tân Vũ, Chùa Vẽ, Hoàng Diệu, and Hải An. However, the sector still underperforms compared to its potential and Hai Phong’s role as a maritime economic gateway. Logistic costs in Vietnam and Hai Phong remain high compared to regional peers, limiting competitiveness. Supply chain links between companies are weak, and relationships between logistics firms and producers or exporters are often transactional rather than strategic. Mutual understanding of capabilities and services is still limited, hindering supply chain optimization.
To address these challenges, Hai Phong city has provided directions for enhancing connections between logistics providers and manufacturing, trade, and export-import businesses. The city aims to develop closed-loop supply chains, accelerate digital technology adoption, expand soft infrastructure, and especially prioritize high-quality workforce training to meet increasing domestic and international market demands. These measures aim to reduce logistics costs and support Hai Phong’s ambition to become a modern, efficient, and internationally acclaimed logistics hub.
Deputy Head Hải also urged logistics, manufacturing, trade, and export-import enterprises to cooperate more closely, share opportunities, and preferably utilize local logistics and warehousing services. This supports local resilience and builds a solid foundation for an effective logistics ecosystem. Service providers are encouraged to understand customers’ needs and offer tailored, value-adding solutions rather than merely providing basic services. Building long-term partnerships through client understanding is key. Hai Phong commits to supporting logistics development with favorable policies, infrastructure, and institutional mechanisms, aiming to promote logistics as a spearhead sector contributing to the city’s and Northern region’s sustainable growth. The success of logistics businesses equates to the success of the city.
Mr. Lê Quốc Anh, Deputy CEO of Vietnam Post, noted that Vietnam Post owns one of the largest logistics infrastructures in the country, with over 13,000 service points covering 100% of communes and wards, 14 major sorting centers, 200 warehouses of various sizes, a regional and interprovincial fleet, and a delivery network spanning over 190 countries. Vietnam Post serves not only households but also government bodies, large corporations, banks, and e-commerce platforms. Today, it stands ready to support Hai Phong businesses with tailored logistics solutions, committed to building a green, digital, innovative national infrastructure closely connected to the Vietnamese business community.
