Secretary of the Hai Phong Party Committee Le Tien Chau Receives the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Vietnam

On the morning of March 18, Mr. Le Tien Chau, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Hai Phong Party Committee, and Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Hai Phong City, held a courtesy meeting with Ms. Helga Margarete Barth, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Vietnam, during her visit and working session in Hai Phong.

Also in attendance were members of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee: Mr. Le Anh Quan – Permanent Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong People's Committee; Mr. Le Trung Kien – Head of the Hai Phong Economic Zone Authority; and representatives from relevant departments and agencies.

Welcoming the delegation from the German Embassy, Secretary Le Tien Chau introduced the city’s socio-economic development, highlighting Hai Phong’s strategic location in Northern Vietnam, its modern and comprehensive infrastructure, and its interregional and global transport connectivity. The city hosts the largest seaport system in the North and is preparing for high-speed rail projects. Hai Phong is also actively establishing new industrial zones to attract additional investors. The Government has recently approved the establishment of the Southern Coastal Economic Zone of Hai Phong, which includes potential developments such as airports, Nam Do Son Port, a free trade zone, industrial clusters, and new urban areas.

The Secretary affirmed that Hai Phong is ready to support German enterprises in surveying and exploring investment and business opportunities. He also expressed hope to foster cooperation with German businesses in fields such as education and high-tech industries—Germany’s strong suits.

Ambassador Helga Margarete Barth thanked Hai Phong’s leaders for the warm welcome and expressed her impression with the city’s double-digit growth over the past decade, especially its strategic focus on green transition and sustainable development—goals closely aligned with those of the German government. She expressed confidence that this visit will help transform the potential and opportunities into concrete cooperation projects for mutual development.
