(Haiphong.gov.vn) – On February 10 afternoon, Ministry of Education and Training online hosted Launching Ceremony for 2021- 2025 School health Program, with participation of representatives of 63 provinces and cities across the country. This is a practical, comprehensive and long-term school health program with the biggest scale ever to select priorities in children and pupils’ health so as to avoid duplication and overlap in implementation.
Prime Minister, Mr. Pham Minh Chinh, attended and directed the Ceremony. The Ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, Head of Culture and Education Committee of the National Assembly Nguyen Dac Vinh, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son, Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long, Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat, and representatives of Central Ministries, departments and units.
As for the city attendees, there were Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People’s Committee Le Khac Nam and representatives of relavant Departments, units and localities.

According to Ministry of Education and Training, the Program expressed the whole country’s determination and admiration in terms of guaranteeing proper health care at school for the next generations consisting of over 22 millions of children and pupils (equivalent to 25% of Vietnam’s population). That would save a huge sum of expenditures for disease treatment, burden reduction for families and the whole society as well as improve race stature and quality. The savings would be invested in development. Pupils with good health would have better learning capacity, thus get more academic success, contributing to the country’s socio-economic development.
Addressing the Ceremony, Prime MinisterPham Minh Chinh affirmed that was an important event confirming determination of the Party, Government and State in upgradation of children and pupils’ health quality. The Prime Minister requested Ministries, departments, and localities to work closely to synchronously implement the Program’s tasks according to their functions, duties, rights, and hearts.
The Prime Minister identified that school health care protection and upgradation had shown limitations, difficulties, and challenges. Numerous children had not been protected in the society, schools, and even in their families; violence at school had been occurred with severe and extremely severe cases; strong growth of social platforms, online games, etc. had distracted children’s from physical activities and appropriate daily routines.
Underlining the significance of young generations’ health care, the Prime Minister required Ministries, departments, localities, and schools to join hands to soon aggressively handle and improve schooling infrastructure and facilities, strengthening schooling sites planning to be reasonable, scientific and quality in remote, border, and island areas. It was also necessary to (1) continue improving the systems of restrooms, kitchens and canteens of schools so that children and pupils would have space for exercises, (2) paying attention to survival skills’s teaching to children and pupils, particularly finding out solutions to cut down children drowning deaths; (3) Improve meals and nutrition for children, notably in areas suffered from pandemic COVID-19; (4) Reduce curriculum, first at elementary level so that “every school day is a happy day”, avoid adverse effect on children’s psychological development; (5) Effectively prevent and control COVID-19 pandemic in accordance with the guidance of Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education and Training; having detailed plans before reopening schools.

At the Ceremony, the Prime Minister and leaders of Central Ministries performed the Announcement Ceremony for 2021-2025 School Health Program;, and also witnessed the Signing Ceremony of Collaboration Program between two Ministries: Education and Training and Culture, Sport, and Tourism in physical education in schools in the period of 2022-2026.
