THEME: VIETNAM – SOUTH KOREA: 30 YEARS OF COOPERATION FOR MUTUAL DEVELOPMENT
After the previous five seasons’ success, the 8th Korean Language Contest - Hai Phong 2022 will continue to create a wholesome playground and environment for Korean language enthusiasts. Through the contest, candidates will have the opportunity to show their passion for Korean language and culture as well as spread the message of solidarity, cultural exchange and friendship between Vietnam and Korea in general, the Korean community living and working in Hai Phong in particular.
1. Contest organizer: Department of Foreign Affairs, Union of Friendship Organizations of Hai Phong City and Korean Association in Hai Phong.
2. Candidates: Citizens of Hai Phong City or people living in Hai Phong (for over 6 months) certified by agencies and units located in Hai Phong City (excluding candidates who won prizes in the previous Korean language competitions).
3. Groups and regulations of the contest
- Group A: Candidates with intermediate or higher Korean language levels who can communicate proficiently in Korean language will submit entry of 700-1000 words to the contest organizer.
- Group B: Candidateswith elementary Korean language level who can communicate basically in Korean language will submit entry of 300-500 words to the contest organizer.
The writings have not been published or used in any previous contest. Candidates are not allowed to use other people's writings. If the above regulations are violated, the writings will not be accepted.
Candidates are recommended to carefully consider the registration of contest groups that is suitable for their Korean language ability. In case a candidate is found to have any fraud, the Organizing Committee will consider for a appropriate punishment.
4. Deadline and registration of the contest
Candidates register for the contest by Group A or Group B and send their entries by the end of November 15, 2022, to the email address: hankuk.haiphong@gmail.com or directly to Department of Foreign Affairs, No. 15 Tran Quang Khai, Hai Phong (candidates shall specify full name, contact address, phone number, email address, school/working place, selection group).
5. Marking and result announcements
- The preliminary round: The Organizing Committee will announce the results to all candidates on November 16, 2022, via email or registered address.
- The interview round: Candidates passing preliminary round will join the interview round on November 19, 2022, in which top 10 best candidates will be announced to the final round on November 20, 2022.
The final round: Taking place on November 26, 2022, at Hai Phong City Convention Center (No. 18 Hoang Dieu). The selected candidates will make a presentation based on the main theme of the contest. Candidates can use their writings in the preliminary round to present in the final round. After the presentation, each candidate will answer 2-3 questions from the Jury.
6. Point calculation
a) The primary round:
The writings of candidates are graded on a 20-point scale by the Jury with the following criteria:
+ Content: 10 points
+ Language skills: 7 points
+ Accuracy: 3 points
b) The interview round:
The jury will test the listening and speaking skills of candidates according to the following criteria: fluency and continuity, pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, and speaking style.
c) The final round:
The presentations of candidates are graded on a 20-point scale by the Jury with the following criteria:
+ Content: 6 points
+ Language skills: 4 points
+ Accuracy: 2 points
+ Presentation skill: 2 points
+ Fluency: 1 points
+ Answering questions from the Jury about the theme: 5 points
7. Prize
Group A:
- 01 first prize: Cash/in kind prize equivalent to 15,000,000 VND and Certificate of Organizing Committee.
- 01 second prize: Cash/in kind prize equivalent to 7,000,000 VND and Certificate of Organizing Committee.
- 01 third prize: Cash/in kind prize equivalent to 5,000,000 VND and Certificate of Organizing Committee.
- 01 consolation prize: Cash/in kind prize equivalent to 1,000,000 VND and Certificate of Organizing Committee.
Group B:
- 01 first prize: Cash/in kind prize equivalent to 10,000,000 VND and Certificate of Organizing Committee.
- 01 second prize: Cash/in kind prize equivalent to 5,000,000 VND and Certificate of Organizing Committee.
- 01 third prize: Cash/in kind prize equivalent to 3,000,000 VND and Certificate of Organizing Committee.
- 01 consolation prize: Cash/in kind prize equivalent to 1,000,000 VND and Certificate of Organizing Committee.
Award for collective attendant: 03 Sourvenir Flags will be awarded to deserved collectives based on their candidates’ entry quantity and quality as well as activities responding to the contest, etc.
