On January 17th, the Hai Phong Economic Zone Management Board, in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy in Vietnam, organized a workshop titled “Achieving Net-Zero Goals: U.S.-Vietnam, Reducing Carbon Emissions in Industrial Production in Hai Phong City” at the city’s convention center.
The event was attended by U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam Marc E. Knapper, U.S. Commercial Counselor Stephen L. In his opening remarks, Vice Chairman, Mr. Hoàng Minh Cường highlighted the importance of the workshop in strengthening bilateral relations, promoting cooperation in high-tech fields like chip production, carbon emission reduction, and energy transition. These efforts support the commitments made at COP 26 to combat climate change and reach Net-Zero by 2050.
Mr. Lê Trung Kiên presented the city’s industrial park development strategy, emphasizing Hai Phong’s commitment to green transition, CO2 emission reduction, and the expansion of eco-industrial parks. Currently, Hai Phong has two eco-industrial parks: DEEP C and Nam Cầu Kiền.
U.S. Embassy speakers shared insights on optimizing energy use in industrial zones, promoting clean energy, and advancing eco-industrial park development in Vietnam. Discussions focused on reducing carbon emissions, energy efficiency, and utilizing carbon credits for sustainable industrial production.
In closing, Vice Chairman Hoàng Minh Cường expressed his hope for continued collaboration with the U.S. Embassy to fulfill COP26 commitments and further the city’s green development goals.
