Red Flamboyant Festival – Hai Phong 2025: Echoing a New Aspiration

Joining in the atmosphere of the 70th Anniversary of Hai Phong's Liberation (May 13, 1955 – May 13, 2025), the Red Flamboyant Flower Festival – Hai Phong 2025 will be held on a large scale, spreading throughout the city, from the central area to districts and communities, reaching both locals and international visitors.

The highlight of the series of events will be the 70th Anniversary Celebration of Hai Phong's Liberation and the Opening Ceremony of the Red Flamboyant Flower Festival 2025, expected to take place on the night of May 13 at the square in front of the Political-Administrative Center in the Bac Song Cam Urban Area (Thuy Nguyen City). Preparation for this major event is now in the final stage, promising a brilliant and unforgettable celebration.

A spirited celebration of 70 years In the solemn and heroic spirit of April and May, Hai Phong will organize a variety of large-scale cultural, social, and economic activities. These events not only honor the city’s important historical milestone but also demonstrate Hai Phong’s strength, modernity, and aspiration to rise in a new era of national development. The 70th Anniversary Ceremony and the Festival's Opening Program are recognized by the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hai Phong as a major political, cultural, and social event.

According to Ms. Tran Thi Hoang Mai, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the celebration will convey a powerful message of historic memory and national pride, embodying the spirit of "Loyalty and Victory." The festival will also reflect Hai Phong’s unyielding will and aspiration for innovation and growth over the 70 years of liberation, reaffirming its position as one of Vietnam’s three major cities and a key driver of development in the North and the whole country. The City Party Standing Committee has essentially approved the event’s script and stage design. Highlights will include 3D mapping technology, semi-classical symphonic music, and performances portraying 70 years of Hai Phong’s culture and history. To capture the spirit of the Port City, two-thirds of the 10 featured songs will be long-standing classics about Hai Phong. Performers will include famous Hai Phong natives recognized nationally and internationally.

Spreading trust and aspiration Relevant departments and localities are urgently preparing a series of vibrant cultural and artistic events from April 30 to June 1. The program includes art performances, a puppet festival, ao dai festivals, traditional folk music competitions, and children's music events, to be held at multiple venues citywide: from the Opera House Square, the city center, to Cat Ba Island and Thuy Nguyen. These activities not only honor traditional arts but also foster international cultural exchange and affirm Hai Phong's cultural diplomacy.

Beyond the festival events, the city will also commence and inaugurate several key projects, such as a new urban area in Duong Kinh and Kien Thuy districts, and technical infrastructure projects in Bac Song Cam Urban Area. Notably, the launch of the "Red Flamboyant Flower" tourist train on the Hanoi-Hai Phong railway line promises to become a new symbol of modern, friendly tourism and transportation.

As part of the festival, the city will allocate significant funds to honor revolution contributors, former leaders, intellectuals, and artists. Numerous "Light Up Dreams" scholarships will be awarded to disadvantaged students, along with charitable activities supporting vulnerable groups and community engagement programs, showing the city's deep solidarity and care. With the people at the heart of the celebration, over 13,000 citizens, visitors, artists, and public servants will participate in the festivities. The city will also provide over 17 billion VND to 1,752 villages and residential areas to organize local celebrations, creating a unified festive atmosphere across all communities.

The Red Flamboyant Flower Festival – Hai Phong 2025 is not only a special cultural, tourism, and political event for the city but also an opportunity for the entire country and international friends to celebrate, look back on Hai Phong's journey, and share hope for a dynamic, modern, and ambitious city burning with pride and reaching forward in a new era.
