Ready for the Hai Phong Delicious Cuisine Festival 2025

On the evening of May 10, at Nguyen Du Flower Garden, the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Haiphong City, in collaboration with relevant agencies, organized the Opening Ceremony of the 2025 Haiphong Delicacies Festival. This event is part of a series of activities celebrating the 70th Anniversary of Haiphong’s Liberation (May 13, 1955 – May 13, 2025) and welcoming the 2025 Red Flamboyant Flower Festival – Haiphong.

Attending the ceremony were representatives from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, leaders of the Departments of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Haiphong and Haiduong Province, officials from various agencies and districts, as well as a large number of local and international tourists.

Festival Overview

The 2025 Haiphong Delicacies Festival takes place at two venues: Nguyen Du Flower Garden and Haiphong Railway Station, featuring a total of 25 exhibition booths. At Nguyen Du Flower Garden20 booths are divided into:

  • 9 street food boothsshowcasing Haiphong’s signature dishes (Haiphong Food Tour).
  • 11 specialty boothsdisplaying local delicacies, OCOP (One Commune One Product) goods, and regional specialties.

At Haiphong Railway Station5 booths promote souvenirs, takeaway food, and tourism information, including details about the Red Flamboyant Flower Tourist Train route.

Speech by the Director of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism

In her opening speech, Ms. Tran Thi Hoang Mai, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, emphasized that the festival is an opportunity to promote Haiphong’s unique culinary culture and honor the city’s traditional cuisine, reflecting the friendly and hospitable spirit of its people.

The festival also supports the development of the "Haiphong Food Tour" initiative, enriching tourists' experiences while visiting the city. Additionally, it highlights railway tourism, particularly the Red Flamboyant Flower Train, to attract visitors and boost Haiphong’s tourism sector.

Festival Highlights

Following the opening ceremony, an artistic performance and live cooking demonstrations of iconic dishes took place, including:

  • Crab noodle soup (Bánh đa cua)
  • Crab spring rolls (Nem cua bể)
  • Sweet and sour stir-fried horseshoe crab (Sam xào chua ngọt)
  • Volcanic stone-grilled Cat Ba grouper (Cá mú Cát Bà xông đá núi lửa)
  • Flame-grilled gold-leaf Sakura beef (Bò Sakura dát vàng đốt lửa)

The event attracted great enthusiasm from locals and visitors.

Festival Duration & Activities

The 2025 Haiphong Delicacies Festival runs for three days (May 10–12). Besides food exhibitions and tastings, the organizers have arranged live cooking shows, interactive experiences, and photo spots to create a vibrant atmosphere, stimulating tourism demand and promoting Haiphong’s new travel products.

The festival not only showcases Haiphong as a dynamic, friendly, and culturally rich city but also provides a platform for businesses, culinary artisans, and tourism stakeholders to network, introduce their products, and contribute to the city’s socio-economic growth.
