On June 26th, 2024, in Hai Phong, the Australian Embassy and the Vietnam Maritime Administration unveiled the first-ever Port Industry Skills Forecast Report for Vietnam for the period 2024-2028, along with an updated logistics skills forecast for 2024-2026

The report, backed by the Australian Government through the Aus4Skill Program, was developed by the Logistics Skills Advisory Council in partnership with the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, incorporating feedback from businesses in the Vietnamese port industry. It offers essential insights for workforce planning in the port sector and serves as a guide for designing training programs to address the industry's future skill requirements.
The seminar presented the findings of the report and offered an opportunity for stakeholders to exchange information on workforce development for Vietnam’s port and logistics sectors. Over 100 delegates attended, including representatives from the Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, the General Department of Vocational Education, the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Export-Import Department, and Aus4Skills.
In his speech, Mr. Hoàng Hồng Giang, the Deputy Director of the Vietnam Maritime Administration, highlighted Vietnam’s strategic location, positioning it as a potential logistics hub in the region. However, he noted the significant shortage of trained logistics and supply chain personnel.
