As part of efforts to strengthen international cooperation and tourism development, on the morning of January 7, the Hai Phong Department of Foreign Affairs held an important meeting with representatives from relevant departments, sectors, and media agencies to discuss coordinated plans for promoting tourism between Hai Phong and Kobe (Japan).
During the meeting, representatives from departments and agencies focused on several key topics, including how to make use of existing video materials while ensuring quality and showcasing the tourism image of Hai Phong. Participants also proposed producing new promotional videos and news articles to attract tourist interest. Detailed discussions were held on content size, broadcast duration and frequency, copyright matters, and contact points for information sharing to ensure efficiency and consistency. Moreover, the delegates agreed on a focal coordination unit to manage the broadcasting of promotional programs through local media platforms, aiming to maximize outreach to both domestic and international tourists.
In the coming period, the Hai Phong Department of Foreign Affairs will continue working closely with Kobe City to implement tourism promotion activities, including broadcasting video clips and feature articles about Kobe tourism on selected public media channels in Hai Phong. This initiative aims to further strengthen the friendly and cooperative relationship between the two cities.
Kobe is known as the sixth-largest city in Japan, with a population of approximately 1.5 million people. It is one of Japan’s major seaports and is located within the Kansai region’s economic-tourism-cultural triangle (Osaka – Kobe – Kyoto). Kobe boasts rich tourism potential with beautiful natural landscapes and famous local products such as Kobe beef, hot springs, and sake. Hai Phong and Kobe signed a Memorandum of Understanding on friendly and cooperative relations in 2013. Since then, the two cities have carried out numerous meaningful cooperative activities in areas such as delegation exchange and human resource training. This tourism promotion effort is part of Hai Phong City People's Committee’s Plan No. 116/KH-UBND on tourism promotion for the 2021–2025 period.
Strengthening tourism promotion between Hai Phong and Kobe not only diversifies tourism offerings but also opens up greater opportunities for cultural and economic exchange, contributing to the socio-economic development of both cities in the future.
