Overseas Vietnamese - Vietnamese people living abroad are an integral part and one of the important resources of the nation. Hai Phong has a ratio of overseas Vietnamese to the population of about 2%, ranking in the top group of the country. Overseas Vietnamese always carry a spirit of national pride, looking towards the country, actively participating in local connection activities and businesses, contributing to the homeland.
Hai Phong has more than 47,000 overseas Vietnamese residing in 56 countries and territories, mainly concentrated in some Asian, European and American countries, 80 businesses established by Hai Phong people abroad, with 60 domestic investment projects. The value of remittances sent to the city increased by an average of 10-15%/year, making an important contribution to stabilizing the balance of payments for economic development. This is also an important bridge in connecting local goods, services and businesses in the host country and Hai Phong city. Along with cultural diplomacy and foreign information activities, the city also promotes on-site economic diplomacy activities through receptions and working sessions with international delegations, businesses, and international organizations; Organizing trade promotion and advertising delegations in countries such as: Japan, Korea, EU, China, ASEAN, USA...; Connecting businesses and localities to participate in product introduction activities, contributing to promote cooperation with foreign partners.
