On April 22, 2025, the Hai Phong Department of Foreign Affairs held a working session with a delegation from the Korea Energy Management System Association (EMS) to continue discussions on proposals to promote cooperation in the field of smart city development.
Following the meeting between Mr. Hoang Minh Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong People’s Committee, and Mr. Park Byung Hoon, Secretary-General of EMS, in December 2024, the Department of Foreign Affairs has maintained communication with the Association and facilitated connections for EMS to meet and exchange ideas with relevant departments in Hai Phong on areas of mutual interest.
During the session, EMS expressed its desire to participate in cooperative activities with Hai Phong City, especially in projects related to smart street lighting, smart waste bins, smart ground traffic lights, intelligent surveillance camera systems, wastewater treatment technologies, digital transformation in urban management, tourism and infrastructure development on Cat Ba Island, as well as the application of high technologies in aquaculture. These proposals align not only with Hai Phong’s smart city development strategy but also contribute to the city’s goals of green transformation and sustainable development in the coming years.
A representative of the Department of Foreign Affairs stated that the department would coordinate with relevant city agencies to study and assess the feasibility of implementing the proposed areas of cooperation. The department hopes that through this partnership, the city will gain access to advanced solutions and technologies that support smart urban development, improve citizens’ quality of life, and promote sustainable socio-economic growth.
