Press digital transformation

The Government of Vietnam issued the Decision No. 348/QĐ-TTg dated 6th May, 2023 approving the Strategy “Press digital transformation to 2025, direction to 2030”, which sets the target “press digital transformation aims to build and develop professional modern press agencies…”. Implementing digitization in press agencies makes changes in the awareness of leders, reporters, and editors; working methods, management, organizational structure, creates and encourages initiatives. Digital transformation in the press is not simply an investment in technological equipment and software, but also a change in professional thinking and innovation in the entire production and operation process of the newsroom.

In August 2023, a conference with the topic "Transforming digital in press, lessons and experiences?"  held in Hung Yen province. Many lessons and experiences learned in the process of digital transformation were shared and exchanged by the delegates towards the goal of well implementing the mission of informing and propagandizing to serve the Party's revolutionary cause, ensuring the role of guiding public opinion and maintaining sovereignty in cyberspace.

Participating in the conference, the delegates of Hai Phong city had a presentation to share some practices of digital transformation of the city's press in general and of HaiPhong Radio and Television station in particular, focusing on developing digital content on the THP application to transmit the content of both TV channels and 2 radio channels of the city, updating the most modern features, interacting with the audience, creating new changes in the industry. Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association Le Quoc Minh was pleased with the initiative in digital transformation of the press agencies, and at the same time shared the difficulties of facing problems in terms of staffing, human resources, skills, budget.... encouraging each press agency to find an appropriate digital transformation direction based on their own strengths.

In the process, following tasks are need to be focused include improving the legal framework concerning press digital transformation; developing multimedia, multifoundation, and multi service press products; applying digital technology, changing production method and enhancing the experience of the people; approaching the readers/audience and targeting to meet individual interests and concerns.
