Pacific Construction Group Explores Smart Urban Development and Transport Infrastructure in Hai Phong

On December 10, Secretary of Hai Phong’s Party Committee and Head of the city’s National Assembly Delegation, Mr. Le Tien Chau, welcomed Mr. Yan Jiehe, founder of Pacific Construction Group (China), along with representatives from other businesses, to discuss potential investment and collaboration opportunities in Hai Phong. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Le Trung Kien, Head of Hai Phong’s Economic Zone Authority; Mr. Hoang Minh Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong People’s Committee; and leaders of various municipal departments and agencies.
During the meeting, Mr. Le Tien Chau warmly greeted Mr. Yan Jiehe and the Pacific Construction Group delegation, emphasizing Hai Phong’s unique advantages, including its strategic location and remarkable economic growth. He noted that Hai Phong is the only locality in Vietnam to sustain an annual economic growth rate of over 10% for ten consecutive years, with 2024 marking this significant achievement.
The city’s business-friendly environment continues to attract both domestic and international investors, including prominent Chinese enterprises. In 2024 alone, Hai Phong secured $4.7 billion in foreign direct investment. Currently, the city has 14 thriving industrial parks, further solidifying its reputation as a dynamic investment destination. Additionally, in December 2024, the Prime Minister approved the establishment of the Southern Coastal Economic Zone, marking a new milestone in Hai Phong’s development.
This economic zone encompasses several key projects, including Nam Do Son Port, Vietnam’s largest port; Tien Lang International Airport; and a next-generation free trade zone. These initiatives are poised to serve as Hai Phong’s future growth engines, with the city targeting an ambitious annual economic growth rate of 14–15% in the coming years. Achieving this goal will require substantial investments, particularly in critical infrastructure projects such as Nam Do Son Port, Tien Lang International Airport, the Lao Cai–Hanoi–Hai Phong railway, the coastal expressway, and the third ring road.
Expressing his admiration for Hai Phong’s geographic advantages and transport infrastructure, Mr. Yan Jiehe shared his optimism about the city’s potential for exceptional growth. He outlined ideas for investment, urban planning, and the development of transport infrastructure to enhance regional connectivity. Committed to swift and efficient implementation, he assured that Pacific Construction Group would approach these projects with the principles of being “the most beautiful, the most affordable, the best, and the fastest.”
Mr. Le Tien Chau expressed his gratitude for the delegation’s interest and constructive proposals, pledging that relevant city departments and agencies would identify specific areas for collaboration. He emphasized prioritizing key sectors such as smart urban development, technical infrastructure, and transport systems to meet the city’s pressing needs and long-term goals.
Mr. Yan Jiehe is the founder of Pacific Construction Group and TuoShang Construction Group, both ranked among the top 500 global companies. In 2023, Pacific Construction Group reported revenue of nearly $80 billion. Before, Mr. Yan Jiehe and his delegation conducted field visits to major projects, including the coastal road, Nam Do Son-Van Uc Port, the southern coastal railway, Tan Vu-Lach Huyen Bridges 2 and 3, the Lao Cai–Hanoi–Hai Phong railway, and the Xuan Cau Free Trade Zone.
