At 12:30 PM on June 15, an Airbus 320 aircraft with flight number B-8446 from Lucky Air (China) landed at Cat Bi International Airport, officially inaugurating the direct flight route between the ancient city of Lijiang (Yunnan Province, China) and Hai Phong. The flight carried 162 passengers from Vietnam and China.
At Cat Bi International Airport, Mr. Le Khac Nam, Vice Chairman of Hai Phong's People's Committee, along with representatives from local government agencies and the tourism sector, welcomed the first group of tourists arriving from Lijiang. Mr. Nam expressed his hope that local travel agencies and businesses would continue to expand their connections and add more international routes to Hai Phong to promote tourism and attract investment. The city will direct relevant agencies to support travel companies and airlines in promoting and launching additional direct flight routes to and from Hai Phong.
The Lijiang-Hai Phong route, operated by Yunnan Tongdian Air Travel (China), is scheduled to run three times a week for one year, from June 15, 2024, to June 14, 2025. The direct flight takes approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes.
