* Expectation for a soon establishment of LG’s research and development center at Hai Phong
Mr. Tran Luu Quang, Member of the Party’s Central Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Head of Hai Phong’s National Assembly Delegation, and leaders of related departments were visiting construction site of LG Electronics Vietnam – Hai Phong’s factory.
On the morning of August 31st 2021, Mr. Tran Luu Quang, Member of the Party’s Central Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Head of Hai Phong City’s delegation to National Assembly, had a work with enterprises of LG Group at Trang Due Industrial Park.
Participating in the work were Mr. s of Standing Committee of the City Party Committee: Major General Vu Thanh Chuong, Director of the City Police Department; Le Trung Kien, Head of Hai Phong Economic Zone Authority, Mr. Le Khac Nam, Vice Chairman of Hai Phong People Committee; leaders of other related departments; An Duong District, Office of the City Party Committee, Trang Due Industrial Park, etc.
Mr. Tran Luu Quang, Member of the Party’s Central Committee, Head of Hai Phong’s delegation to the National Assembly, and leaders of related departments and units were visiting the construction site of LG Electronics Vietnam – Hai Phong’s factory.
By now, LG Group has been investing 7 projects at Trang Due Industrial Park, targeting production of high tech items including audiovisual equipment, mobile items, gadgets, and refrigeration supplying to global market. Total capital investment of LG Group’s enterprises has reached to 7.24 billion USD. Activities of LG Complex at Hai Phong have made a significant contribution to development strategy of LG Group (South Korea), and have built up a network of satellite projects for supportive manufacturing industry with a participation of more than 50 different enterprises. The enterprises of LG Group gained a revenue of over 10 billion USD in 2020; export turnover reached above 10 billion USD, paying to the city’s budget 100 million USD, that contributed to enhancement of Hai Phong’s industrialization, modernization, and high tech application to industrial manufacturing. The LG Group’s enterprises have been always going with the city in social welfare work, particularly in COVID-19 prevention (i.e. they offered to the city health care equipment valued 2 billion VND, COVID-19 testing equipment valued 5.5 billion VND, sponsored 30 billion VND to the city’s vaccine fund, leading in implementation of “3 in place” model, guaranteeing safety of the pandemic prevention).

At the meeting, Mr. Tran Luu Quang, Secretary of the City Party Committee attended and witnessed ceremony of awarding adjusted investment certificate to LG Display Ltd. Company that lifted up this company’s investment capital to 4.65 billion USD, the biggest capital of investment at Hai Phong. Mr. Tran Luu Quang also visited construction site of refrigerators manufacturing factory of LG Electronics Ltd. Company and manufacturing chain of LG Innotek Company.

Representatives of the enterprises of LG Group, Korean Enterprises’ Association at Trang Due Industrial Park asked for the city’s continuing care, good performance in the pandemic prevention, safety guarantee for manufacturing and convenience of trading goods, transportation, import and export at Hai Phong’s ports; construction of accommodation for workers; road expansion to Trang Due Industrial Park; keep stably of power supply; shortening the quarantine time for those already got fully injected 2 doses; speeding vaccination to labors; establishing international school to respond studying demands of foreign expertise and management officers’ children, etc.

Mr. Tran Luu Quang, Secretary of the City Party Committee, expressed his impression and honor to contribution of the LG Group’s enterprises that have made contribution to draw up Hai Phong city’s image. According to Mr. Tran Luu Quang, the enterprises of LG Group have significantly contributed to the city’s eco-social development that is a concrete evidence for the increasingly opening and convenient investment and business environment of Hai Phong City. Particularly, in the context of complication of COVID-19, the enterprises have been well collaborated with the city in the pandemic control and prevention, guaranteed manufacturing maintained continuously, stably, developed and safely. Secretary of the City Party Committee noted and appreciated the LG Display Company’s decision on capital increase and manufacturing scale expansion, and expected companies as LG Electronics and LG Innotek Companies to continuously make investment to new projects at Hai Phong ongoing time. Mr. Tran Luu Quang also expressed his gratitude to the enterprises’ shares with the city in social welfare activities, jobs and income warranty to labors.
Mr. Le Trung Kien, Member of the City Party Committee’s Standing Committee, Head of Hai Phong Economic Zone Authority, had a speech at the meeting.

Regarding the requests of the enterprises, Secretary of the City Party Committee assigned directly related departments and units to respond. Indeed, Mr. Tran Luu Quang designated Hai Phong Economic Zone Authority to work with Department of Industry and Trade and related departments handling issues relating to safe and stable electricity supply to industrial parks, researching electricity supply plan to Trang Due Industrial Park phase III, proposing solution for road expansion to Tran Due Industrial Park, etc.

Regarding housing workers, Secretary of the City Party Committee mentioned that, the city has been active in implementation. Ongoing time, nevertheless, it needs to get clearer and more specific measures; assignment to Hai Phong Economic Zone Authority to work with related departments for concrete review; call on participation of enterprises. About vaccination, Secretary of the City Party Committee affirmed that, Hai Phong has been active and doing attempts to access vaccine sources, tentatively more vaccine sources arrival in this September, and privileged vaccination to workers at industrial parks. Mr. Tran Luu Quang expected LG Group to soon establish a research and development center at Hai Phong. The city will support and facilitate LG Group’s implementation./.
