On the afternoon of August 26, Mr. Hoang Minh Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong City People's Committee, hosted a courtesy meeting with the crew of the Indonesian Navy ship, led by Rear Admiral Supardi, Director of the Indonesian Naval Academy. The delegation visited Hai Phong as part of their official visit to the city. Also attending the meeting were representatives from the Department of Foreign Affairs, the 1st Regional Maritime Police Command, the Border Guard Command of Hai Phong City, and other relevant parties.

In his welcome remarks, Mr. Hoang Minh Cuong extended a warm greeting to the commander of the ship, along with the officers, sailors, and cadets of the Indonesian Naval Academy. He emphasized that Vietnam and Indonesia are both members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and their bilateral relations have been nurtured and strengthened through significant historical milestones. With shared cultural similarities and potential for economic cooperation, Mr. Cuong expressed his confidence that both countries will continue to enhance their collaboration in various fields, including economy, culture, tourism, and security. This visit comes at an opportune time, as both nations prepare to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (December 30, 1955 – December 30, 2025). He believes that this visit and related activities will further solidify the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Indonesia in general, and between the two navies specifically.

Mr. Hoang Minh Cuong also provided an overview of Hai Phong’s geographical advantages and its socio-economic development. He noted that in 2023, Hai Phong’s export turnover to Indonesia reached 30 million USD, while imports from Indonesia amounted to 45 million USD. Currently, there is one Indonesian-invested enterprise in Hai Phong, with a total investment of 11 million USD. The city has also hosted several high-level Indonesian delegations to further strengthen cooperation with Indonesian localities and partners. On behalf of the leadership and people of Hai Phong, Mr. Cuong wished the commander, officers, sailors, and cadets of the Indonesian Navy good health and success in their mission, as well as an enjoyable experience in Hai Phong.
Expressing his gratitude for the warm reception from the city authorities, Rear Admiral Supardi conveyed his admiration for the remarkable socio-economic development of Hai Phong in recent years. He expressed confidence that the visit would contribute to enhancing mutual cooperation, understanding, and trust between the armed forces of Vietnam and Indonesia, as well as between the two navies.

The visit of the Indonesian Navy ship to Hai Phong took place from August 26 to 29 and included various activities, such as courtesy meetings with Hai Phong City People’s Committee leadership, the Vietnam Navy Region 1 Command, sports exchanges between Indonesian Navy sailors and Vietnamese naval personnel, as well as cultural and culinary experiences in Vietnam.
