More than 1000 artists gathered at the National Music and Dance Festival 2021 in Hai Phong City

(HPDT)- On the evening of November 18, at Thang Tam (August) Theater, Department of Performing Arts (under Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) chaired and coordinated with Hai Phong Department of Culture and Sports, Vietnam Musicians Association, Vietnam Dancers Association to hold the opening ceremony of the National Music and Dance Festival 2021 (phase 1).

The opening ceremony was attended by central and municipal leaders: Mrs. Trinh Thi Thuy, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Head of the Steering Committee for the National Music and Dance Festival 2021 (phase 1); leaders of Steering Committee, Arts Council, Vietnam Musicians Association, Vietnam Dancers Association, Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism of provinces and cities.

On the city’s side, there were Mr. Le Khac Nam, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee and leaders of the city's departments and agencies.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mrs. Trinh Thi Thuy, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism held the same views asMr. Le Khac Nam, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee that Hai Phong City was the land giving birth and nurturing the famous names of modern Vietnamese music such as: Van Cao, Hoang Quy, Doan Chuan, Do Nhuan, Tran Chung, Ngo Thuy Mien with many songs accompanying with the years. The continued selection to be host of the National Music and Dance Festival 2021 (phase 1) right after the success of the National Drama Festival once again affirmed the goal of building and developing Hai Phong city into a center for domestic and international cultural, political events , simultaneously ensuring safety in the complicated context of epidemics. The National Music and Dance Festival 2021 (phase 1) is the pinnacle art playground that brings a lot of joy and creative spirit to artists, contributing to promoting the development of performing arts industry to meet requirements of new era.

The festival organizers gave flowers to the representatives of art delegations.

Participating in the National Music and Dance Festival 2021 (phase 1), there were 19 professional art troupes with more than 1000 artists.

Immediately following the opening ceremony, artists of Hai Phong Music and Dance Troupe performed special songs promoting the Port city: "Dai Viet's spirit", "City of burning flowers", "Hai Phong heading to the big sea". After the art program, leaders of Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Hai Phong City People's Committee presented souvenir flags and flowers to members of Arts Council, representatives of units participating in the National Music and Dance Festival 2021 (phase 1). Then, Viet Bac Folk Music and Dance Theater performed an art program titled: "Magic Night" with the imbued cultural identity of the Northwest ethnic groups.

The festival will last until November 28.
