LG Corporation and its Korean business partners in Trang Due Industrial Park donated 30 billion VND to COVID-19 vaccine fund

According to Hai Phong Economic Zone Authority (HEZA), LG Corporation and the Korean partners in Trang Due Industrial Park (IP) donated 30 billion VND to COVID-19 vaccine fund, 25 billion of which was from LG Corporation while the remaining 5 billion was from the Corporation’s 35 Korean business partners. This financial assistance made a practical contribution to the campaign against the pandemic in the city in particular and in Vietnam in general.

It is known that LG Electronics, LG Display and LG Innotek are all high-tech electronic product manufacturers and exporters. Up to present, those 3 LG companies in Trang Due IP creating jobs for 35,000 workers has invested a total capital of 5.8 billion USD in the city, accounting for 28% of Hai Phong’s total FDI capital. Besides their active contributions to the city’s revenue, LG Corporation also pays due attention to their social responsibilities while operating in Hai Phong.

On behalf of LG Corporation, Mr. Jung Hae Jin, General Director of LG Electronics Vietnam held that COVID-19 was of the common fear and needed to be tackled as soon as possible. Therefore, it was the high time for enterprises to join hands and collaborate with the city to secure the supply of COVID-19 vaccine. On top of that, LG Vietnam hoped to be supported by Vietnamese government and authority agencies in manufacturing activities.

On the side of Hai Phong city, Mr. Le Trung Kien, Head of HEZA, highly valued the responsibility and active contribution of LG companies along with their partners in the prevention and fight against COVID-19. He also voiced his hope that enterprises would continue to carry out effective preventive measures for COVID-19 and ensure workers’ safety within the factories. Hai Phong city would always pay attention to and create favourable condition for the enterprises’ operation.

Hai Phong Department of Foreign Affairs held that Korean Ambassador to Vietnam had sent a diplomatic note requesting a courtesy call at the beginning of July with Mr. Tran Luu Quang, Member of Central Party Committee, Secretary of Hai Phong’s Party Committee; the signing ceremony of an MOU in education between Korean Embassy and Hai Phong People’s Committee; discussion on measures to foster the cooperation between Hai Phong city and Korean enterprises, especially LG Corporation in Hai Phong./.
