“Journey to the Roots – Connecting with the Homeland” Program Unites Overseas Vietnamese in Building Hai Phong City

On the morning of February 11, the Department of Foreign Affairs organized the program “Journey to the Roots – Connecting with the Homeland 2025.” The event was attended by leaders of the Hai Phong City Association for Liaison with Overseas Vietnamese, representatives of various Hai Phong expatriate associations from different countries, and overseas Vietnamese currently in Hai Phong.

2025 Overseas Vietnamese Networking Conference

As part of the program's activities, during the 2025 Networking Conference, overseas Vietnamese were briefed by the Department of Foreign Affairs on the city's socio-economic development, and on state policies and guidelines concerning overseas Vietnamese. These efforts aim to strengthen confidence, encourage overseas Vietnamese to maintain connections with their homeland, and join hands in contributing to the city's and the country’s continued development.

Delegates exchanged and shared innovative initiatives and methods in overseas Vietnamese affairs to improve effectiveness and adapt to the actual conditions of overseas communities and the city's context. They also shared updates on the activities of the Hai Phong communities abroad, enhanced connections with local agencies, organizations, and individuals, and offered good practices, fresh ideas, and proposals to the city and central government authorities.

The program aims to strengthen national unity and create collective strength to contribute to building the hometown city. It also promotes the tradition of patriotism, national pride and solidarity, reinforcing the bond between overseas Vietnamese and Hai Phong. Through this core network, traditional cultural values can be passed on to the next generation of overseas Vietnamese, while also promoting the image of the homeland and the city.

On this occasion, the Department of Foreign Affairs gifted Vietnamese language learning books to overseas Vietnamese. The program also organized incense offerings at the Den Nghe Temple and the statue of General Le Chan, the Tuong Long Tower, and a visit to the Mac Dynasty Memorial Site.
