Hai Phong Department of Industry and Trade Introduces Upcoming Specialized Exhibitions in Japan in 2025
The Hai Phong Department of Industry and Trade hosted a program to introduce several specialized exhibitions expected to take place in Japan in 2025. The event was attended by representatives from RX Exhibitions Japan, EIFEC Co., Ltd., and several local enterprises.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Nguyễn Văn Thành, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, emphasized that Japan is a leading global economy with a GDP of approximately USD 4.2 trillion, making it a major consumption market. Japan and Vietnam are both parties to various economic partnership and free trade agreements, including the Vietnam-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (VJEPA), the ASEAN-Japan Comprehensive Economic Partnership (AJCEP), the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).
For Hai Phong, Japan is a major export market, with export turnover nearly 2.5 times that of imports. In 2024, Japan ranked as Hai Phong’s third-largest export market, with export turnover reaching USD 3.13 billion, accounting for nearly 9% of the city’s total export value. Imports from Japan stood at approximately USD 1.35 billion, making it the fifth-largest import market.
Director Nguyễn Văn Thành highly valued the significance of the event, considering it a valuable opportunity for Hai Phong enterprises to learn about upcoming specialized exhibitions in Japan in 2025. He emphasized that such events provide businesses with new channels to connect, access potential partners, and open up new international cooperation opportunities.
During the program, participating businesses heard a presentation from Mr. Masaki Hatabe, Senior Specialist in International Sales and Marketing at RX Exhibitions Japan. Mr. Hatabe introduced the scale, development journey, and impressive performance figures of RX Exhibitions in the exhibition organization sector. He noted that after the COVID-19 pandemic, Japanese businesses are increasingly seeking new partners in Southeast Asia, and Vietnam has emerged as a bright spot thanks to its improving production capacity, attractive investment environment, and supportive business policies. According to him, now is a golden opportunity for Vietnamese businesses in general, and Hai Phong enterprises in particular, to take a more active role in Japan’s supply and production chains.
During the session, representatives from Hai Phong enterprises and RX Exhibitions Japan exchanged views on the challenges Vietnamese companies face when participating in international exhibitions, such as: participation costs, language barriers, registration procedures, differences in market approach, as well as optimizing machinery investment costs through direct imports, and export orientation processes for sectors like machinery and food.
The Japanese representatives shared their experience and offered support solutions to help Hai Phong businesses take full advantage of international exhibitions, expand their network, and foster cooperation with Japanese partners.
Accordingly, a number of specialized exhibitions expected to be held in Japan in 2025 include: Fashion Tech Expo (March), International Jewellery Tokyo (May), Industrial ODM/EMS Expo, International Optical Fair Tokyo (October), and others. These events not only provide Hai Phong enterprises with better connection support, but also offer opportunities for direct participation in international exhibitions.
