On the afternoon of November 27th, at Nguyen Trai Flower Garden (Ngo Quyen District), the Hai Phong City People’s Committee, in collaboration with the Embassy of the Netherlands in Vietnam, held a ceremony to inaugurate the Netherlands-Hai Phong friendship symbol in Hai Phong.

Mr. Hoang Minh Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong City People’s Committee, and Mr. Christoph Prommersberger, Deputy Ambassador of the Netherlands to Vietnam, along with other delegates, cut the ribbon to inaugurate the symbol.
Attending the ceremony were Mr. Hoang Minh Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong City People’s Committee; Mr. Christoph Prommersberger, Deputy Ambassador of the Netherlands to Vietnam; and representatives of various municipal departments and relevant agencies.
In his remarks at the inauguration ceremony, Vice Chairman Mr. Hoang Minh Cuong emphasized that in recent years, the cooperation between Hai Phong and its Dutch partners, particularly the Embassy of the Netherlands, has been continuously strengthened and expanded. Both sides have enhanced collaboration in areas such as investment, economy, culture, and delegation exchanges, thereby contributing to the city’s socio-economic development. Dutch businesses operating in Hai Phong have seen growth and success, further solidifying the friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
The Netherlands-Hai Phong friendship symbol, inaugurated to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, serves as a vivid testament to their strong relationship. The design, inspired by the tulip flower, symbolizes the connection between the Netherlands and Hai Phong in particular, and Vietnam as a whole. It represents a message of unity, enduring friendship, cultural exchange, and a shared aspiration for sustainable and prosperous development.

The Netherlands-Hai Phong friendship symbol is located within the Nguyen Trai Flower Garden (Ngo Quyen District).
Mr. Christoph Prommersberger, Deputy Ambassador of the Netherlands to Vietnam, highlighted that Hai Phong has recently become an attractive destination for Dutch investors, particularly in the shipbuilding sector. The inauguration of the Netherlands-Hai Phong friendship symbol marks a new milestone in the collaboration between Hai Phong and the Netherlands, as well as between the two nations overall. This structure is not only a symbolic monument but also a cultural bridge, fostering further economic, cultural, and social exchanges between the Netherlands and Hai Phong, and solidifying their sustainable partnership.
