Hai Phong’s careful preparation to successfully organize the 31st SEA Games in the City

Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Khac Nam gave a speech at the meeting.

(Haiphong.gov.vn) - On the morning of March 17, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Khac Nam made the abovementioned affirmation at the online open meeting of Traffic Subcommittee for the 31st SEA Games (from May 13 to May 23, 2022) with 11 localities hosting the 31st SEA Games, which was chaired by Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Duy Lam - Head of Traffic Subcommittee. The online meeting was attended byHai Phong’s leaders of relevant departments, branches and units.

Regarding the transportation of the athletes and sport officials delegations, the Traffic Subcommittee would select a transportation service provider and assign a managing force to coordinate the transportation during the event, ensuring safety for the participants, which meant no localities’ transport needed. Besides, the Subcommittee would closely coordinate with the Logistics Subcommittee and localities to support athletes and sport officials. In order to limit the transportation impact on people's normal traffic, Directorate for Roads of Vietnam had sent a document to relevant local Departments of Transport for urgently surveying and notifying appropriate traffic lanes separation. Particularly, the transportation of athletes and sports officials by airways would be carried out at 3 main airports: Noi Bai (Hanoi), Cat Bi (Hai Phong) and Van Don (Quang Ninh) with Vietnam aviation’s meticulous reception and farewell to the SEA Games’ participants, in which the airports would arrange separate places for quicker baggage reclaim and custom procedures as well as better control of COVID-19 epidemic...

According to the report of Department of Culture and Sports, the Department had repaired a 03- storey operating building and a 02-storey spacious and clean block of houses to welcome Vietnamese’s national and local rowing - canoeing teams for concentrated accommodation and training. Besides, the Department also cooperated with Hai Phong Youth Union, Department of Foreign Affairs and universities in the City to recruit 100 official volunteers and 25 substitutable volunteers for the 31st SEA Games.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Khac Nam said that the City was currently mobilizing resources to renovate road No.359 for convenient and safe transportation. The City People's Committee assigned the City Police Department, Department of Transport and Thuy Nguyen District to coordinate in surveying for traffic lane seperation as well as ensuring proper medical conditions throughout the event in Hai Phong, which had been committed by the City.

In his concluding speech, Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Duy Lam recognized the localities and sectors’ careful preparations for the 31st SEA Games, especially in traffic issues to ensure the convenient transport for sport delegations. Deputy Minister requested relevant sectors and localities for continuous traffic check for road signs and markings, traffic lane separation, vehicle supply, as well as driver training the Southeast Asia’s largest sport event’s safety and success.
