The green battery manufacturing project in Hai Phong carries a crucial mission to optimize both upstream and downstream supply chains and strengthen global supply capabilities.

Recently, the Inauguration Ceremony of the Lithium-ion (Li-ion) and Nickel-Metal Hydride (Ni-MH) battery manufacturing plant by Exquisite Power Vietnam Technology Co., Ltd. was held at Nam Dinh Vu Industrial Park in Hai Phong. This marked a significant milestone in the company’s green industrial development journey in Hai Phong in particular, and in Vietnam in general.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Le Trung Kien, Head of the Hai Phong Economic Zone Authority (HEZA), stated: “Since the project was granted the Investment Registration Certificate in July 2023, the construction, installation, and commissioning have been carried out rapidly and safely. Today’s inauguration of the plant reflects the successful development of the investor’s operations in Hai Phong.”
The project aims to manufacture Li-ion and Ni-MH batteries on a factory area of 13,650 square meters, with a total investment of USD 20 million in Nam Dinh Vu Industrial Park. Beyond meeting the growing global and domestic market demand, the plant will contribute to Hai Phong’s economic restructuring, create employment opportunities for local workers, generate income, ensure social welfare, and support sustainable development in the city.
China is currently one of Hai Phong’s leading economic partners, with 241 projects across various sectors such as environment, education, training, healthcare, and agriculture, totaling USD 6 billion in investment and accounting for 23% of the city’s total FDI in economic and industrial zones. Hai Phong has become an attractive destination for major Chinese corporations such as Flat, Tongwei, TP Link, Sanhua, and Autel.
The city also boasts modern and synchronized transport infrastructure, including seaports, the Kunming–Lao Cai–Hai Phong railway, airports, and the Mong Cai–Hai Phong expressway, directly connecting to China—providing a strong advantage for investors.
Mr. Le Trung Kien also highlighted that the Government’s recent announcement of the establishment of the Southern Coastal Economic Zone of Hai Phong, including four newly founded industrial parks, aligns with global EGS standards (Environment–Social–Governance) and the Net Zero emission target. These developments are supported by a series of preferential policies designed to attract international investors, particularly from China.
Mr. Vincent, General Director of Exquisite Power Vietnam Technology Co., Ltd., shared: “In July 2023, Highpower Technology Group made the strategic decision to establish its plant in Vietnam and founded Exquisite Power Vietnam. This decision reflects our confidence in the local market’s potential and the prospects for business expansion, as well as our positive response to regional economic integration trends.”
Looking ahead, in line with the Group’s development strategy and to better serve global customer needs, Exquisite Power Vietnam plans to establish additional overseas production facilities, build comprehensive manufacturing capabilities from battery cell to pack, and further expand its footprint in Vietnam’s industrial sector.
“Building this plant in Vietnam is part of our international expansion strategy and plays an essential role in optimizing the upstream and downstream supply chains, thereby enhancing global supply capabilities. Highpower also aims to fulfill its international social responsibility, promote sustainable development, maintain compliant corporate governance, and develop a high-quality industrial ecosystem. We are committed to advancing ESG standards and ensuring that the factory not only delivers economic efficiency but also promotes green operations and sustainable development in Vietnam,” Mr. Vincent emphasized.
Mr. Le Trung Kien called on investors to continue leveraging their strengths and capabilities to achieve more positive results, contributing to effective, efficient, and sustainable cooperation. He also urged close collaboration between investors and the city in human resource training and labor-related social welfare activities.
He further recommended that the company research and adopt environmentally friendly, advanced technologies in production, with a focus on reducing emissions, supporting Hai Phong’s green industrial transition.
The Hai Phong government, HEZA, and relevant departments and agencies pledged to continue supporting and accompanying the company throughout the project’s implementation.
The inauguration of the green battery plant by Exquisite Power Vietnam at Nam Dinh Vu Industrial Park not only signifies a successful step forward for the company but also opens up extensive cooperation opportunities between Hai Phong and Chinese investors, especially in the context of the 75th anniversary of Vietnam–China diplomatic relations.
