Hai Phong Vietnam – Korea Cultural Exchange Program 2025

On the evening of May 17, at the City Theater Square, the Department of Foreign Affairs coordinated with the Vietnam - Korea Friendship Association of the city and the Korean Association in Hai Phong city to organize a performance by the Bujihwa Art Troupe, Korea.  

The program is a bridge connecting two nations through emotional melodies: from heroic sounds to profound love songs leading viewers on a unique artistic journey.

The unique Korean dance piece performed to the song “I am a Hai Phong person” brings a new perspective: combining the proud and resilient spirit of Hai Phong people with the unique movement language of traditional Korean dance. This is not only an artistic exchange, but also a sympathy between two cultures – where local identity and international creativity flourish together.

“Jang Geom Mu” is a unique sword dance that originated from traditional Korean martial arts. Over time, the dance has transcended the limits of combat and become a form of expressive and sophisticated stage art.

The impressive Janggu drum solo, where the artist skillfully combines skillful technique with subtle creativity in each drum beat and each graceful movement. The drum sounds are sometimes intense and powerful, sometimes leisurely and gentle, sometimes soft and calm, sometimes explosive and intense, blending into a profound symphony of the soul, imbued with national identity and filled with endless artistic inspiration.

Korean artists also brought to the program the deep and immortal melody of Korea's most famous folk song - "Arirang". Not only is it the pride of the land of Kim Chi, "Arirang" has been honored by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity - because of the traditional beauty, soulful melody and timeless vitality that the song carries within itself. "

After the quiet and meaningful moments of the program, to add more energy, create a joyful, connected and creative atmosphere, the audience of the program also participated in the "Nanta Drum" exchange under the guidance of Korean artists. 

Previously, on the morning of May 17, at the  Trumpet House (Nguyen Du Flower Garden),  the Bujihwa Art Troupe, Korea and Hai Phong students performed performances imbued with the cultural identity of Vietnam and Korea such as: Bujihwa drum performance on the Vietnamese music "Vietnam oi!", "Ariang Mokdong", APT; creative Korean dance on the Vietnamese music "Beo dat may troi", Co doi thuong ngan, melodies of Vietnam, Mua he tuyet voit, Hello Vietnam, Vietnamese - Korean mashup dance HPU.

Also at the program, viewers can interact with Korean artists, participate in quizzes with prizes and learn about Korean and Vietnamese culture...

The program is an activity within the framework of the International Week organized by the Department of Foreign Affairs, including a series of performances by international art troupes in response to and celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Liberation Day of Hai Phong - Heroic City and the Red Flamboyant Festival - Hai Phong 2025./.
